So I make a few very selective and tentative messages to some profiles.

I get a few no responses, a very polite no, and someone interested.

We chat a little, discuss likes etc and then I give my number.

We talk on the phone, it all seems great and they ask me to meet for an afternoon coffee.

Perfect idea in my humble opinion so I agree, we set the place etc and all seems good in my world.

A confirmation call from them an hour before sets my day right up and I get there in time to order 3 lattes before they arrive.

Which they don't...

And now their profile has disappeared.

Pretty sure I couldn't have done much more to prevent having my day ruined other than actually asking for their number but I reckoned for their peace of mind, they withheld it for other reasons than to lead me on.

Was there anything more you think I could have done?

What a crap thing to do to someone. Sounded pretty genuine but I'd have to have their mobile number to go through with a meet.

I'm not sure you could have done much more. Did you speak to both?

Sometimes people are just arsewipes regardless of you doing what you can to prevent being let down

Im sure there will be posts telling you you should have cammed, asking you if they were verified and had a recent CRB check and then telling you it was all your fault anyway, try not to blame yourself though, just refer to the first line of this post

Yeah that's the one thing I thought would have secured it completely!

I do feel pretty lousy to be fair but I'm also a tad concerned about them. I hope they're ok and this whole thing hasn't been detrimental to them.

Probably got a kick out of it. Could have even been there watching and deciding you wasn't for them. Maybe chickened out. Either way no need just cowardly.

If anything awful had happened to them they wouldn't have logged on here to delete their profile. Whatever happened to them has nothing to do with anything you've done.

OP have they blocked you or left the site? Report if its the former, if its the latter, I bet they'll be back on here soon. Sad disrespectful people.

It says they don't exist, so I assume that means killed profile?

Still plenty of great people to talk to on here. So I would not be to down about it.

You've hardly ruined your day, unless you were daft enough to make major changes to plans for them?

Plus, you've learned a lesson. Always get a contact number.

Brighton - even Hove!

Did you notice a couple laughing to themselves in the corner? Some people get their kicks from timewasting.

Out of interest OP, were they verified?

If they did its a horrible thing to have done. You can drink a cup of coffee with someone surely.

Can't think of anything else you could of done. Some sad people out there. People have suggested you get their contact number but not everyone will give one (I wouldn't) and only contact people i don't know via the site. Dust ya self down and better luck next time

Having a contact number probably wouldn't have made any difference either, she / he / they still wouldn't have turned up.

Cheers everyone.

They were verified but only on cam if I recall.

I didn't ask for their number out of respect. I figured they'd get loads of guys calling them repeatedly if they gave it out. I'm sure I'd be reluctant to ad a cpl.

It's done now, New day and all that!
