How does pouring a bucket of ice over your head raise deaf awareness? As so many people have not heard of this it doesn't appear to be having the desired effect.

I would have thought there are better ways to raise the profile of the issue

I thought we all learned a lesson from the other recent nominations craze: Neck nominations and even No make-up selfies.

Yes, I will admit, that when these first came out I thought they was a stupid thing to do, but all aside, didn't they solely raise millions for charity?

My personal opinion is that by doing this, it can only mean great things because the person doing the challenge picks a charity, donates to it and even if it is the smallest bit of awareness then happy days. Better than none, right?

Let's just all be glad that it has moved on to a safer 'craze' like pouring ice water over their heads rather than downing a litre of vodka!

It was started by the deaf community in my area. Videos posted on social network.

Eventually got hearing people sending private messages asking what it was about and joining in.

Small steps I know.

Well, much as I applaud the efforts of those involved in trying to promote awareness i will definitely not be dousing myself with ice.

And I won't be representing my country at the heptathlon either

It could make you pass out a guy told me he had a cold shower after a sauna and passed out, hurting himself quite badly. You wouldnt want to miss a meet because of that

Going from a hot sauna to a cold shower is not recommend.

I chose a cool day for my challenge. Worked wonders for the wet t shirt pic.
