it's the way the site formats &. It's short for ampersand which is the name of that symbol

you're welcome.

A geeky fact is that the word probably comes from when children were reciting the alphabet years ago and the and symbol was at the end of it, they would say "and per se and" and it sounded like ampersand when it was said quickly.
