do people read profiles?

It can be very frustrating here sometimes. Am I wrong to feel like this.

Had a message with a compliment then it says " have you managed to meet anyone off here". I have a few verifications so would of thought that would answer that question

By the way this is quite a common occurrence but today its just annoyed me more than usual.

It doesn't matter how small the profile is, they won't read it. I request a face pic with a message on mine and guess what? 99% of messages have no face pics. So you can treat it as another filter. If you're happy meeting someone who can't be arsed to read a few lines then no problem. If not, ignore the message.

Know what you mean...we are always polite with our responses but sometimes it does make you wonder why there's a profile section at all on here....we once politely suggested to a guy that maybe he should read our profile...the answer was "no thanks"...

You just accept many people dont read profiles properly but those that do then they should be the ones to talk to.

Some people read profiles, some don't. This profile has been my most successful yet. I gave up on having a profile, I just mail people I like the look of and go from there. Much easier and less stressful.

90% of single men dont read profiles.

5% read them then when they know theyre not your type, message anyway because they think they are the exception.

The rest read and message accordingly or move on accordingly.

We often get messages from profiles that are a world away from ours in terms of preferences. Like a few have already mentioned, we use this as a filter but sometimes we cannot help but send a message pointing out the incompatibilities, then we await the usually snotty emvarrased reply we usually ask most profiles that contact us if they are 100% with what ours states

We do generally read them if they're not War & Peace, but can tell most WInkers don't read ours - but hey ho, sometimes the thrill is in the backwards and forwards messaging.

Having said that people do often pick up on a keyword from ours and use that as the intro.

Always read the profile. Actually I think the women are very good at reading profiles, I get messages saying I'm outside your age range, know you don't do clubs etc, so I know they've read mine. Least I can do is play the same game.

It sounds to me like they wanted to strike up a conversation with you but didn't know of anything more interesting to say? People ask the most mundane, obvious questions!

I read profiles but I'm not a copy and paste kind of guy, so I don't mind spending time looking at profiles etc and not expecting a shag after one message etc.

I often get messages where they don't read mine though, from couples it's usually not bad, but some single women often haven't read it - I don't worry about it though, that's the nature of the site in some ways.

Love reading them. Stikl intrigued by the diversity and intensities of those on here. Even read men's and sometimes gay profiles....in stealth ninja mode though.

Unfortunately that is not reciprocated and I still get inappropriate messages from men.

I like this thread, very reflective and accurate..

My own profile used to get me loads of "Hey, great profile!" messages.

So I changed it accordingly, now I think my profile is great as it amuses me and saves me all the hassle of replying to pointless messages :P

I'll glance at them, take necessary info as and when.

But don't throw toys from your landing craft just because someone's asked something that you'd think they'd have grasped from your profile!

General chit chat, the art of conversation. It happens. The key to this site is to not get upset with it.

Just my opinion.

Some people read profiles but would guess that alot don't...judging from some of the messages we receive.

If someone clearly hasn't bothered to read any of it, we won't spend any time in replying.

Exactly... But then they are starting threads saying no one answers and they can't get a meet.... The re time wasters to me are the ones who message and are all that you are not looking for.., although someone else maybe waiting for exactly them...

we are constantly saying that there is something for everyone if you are prepared to look enough, the problem usually is the people that cant be honest in their own approach and just chance their arm without asking themselves if a profile looks right for them in terms of interests ect

I beg to differ - general chitchat is well and enough, but I went through the trouble of sharing a few things about me, what I like and what I don't in order to help people decide on our match. If you're interested enough to make contact, surely you'd want to know the little I've up already? When I come across someone that interests me, I will pore over every single thing on their profile. I wouldn't initiate contact before I finished.

I judged it on the amount of views i had compared to the amount that messaged and assume either i'm not their type or they're not mine and know it. Shame you have such a dark pic of your face. Your profile makes you sounds like just my type if it weren't for the distance.

very true

But I don't block, I have only blocked 3 people. one because I didn't reply and gave me some abuse . one because I started chatting but he started getting jealous and one who just kept messaging 1 liners.

I often wonder if all these people search for key items in the same way - cars, houses, washing machines etc...

Never mind the information - just chose because of the pretty pictures and then assume that everything will work out ok...?

We would agree that probably 95% or more don't read the profiles. We have posted on our profile

"We are not looking for Straight Guys or Guys that say they are Bi, but have straight listed on their profile."

It's amazing how many straight guys send us a message wanting to make a hook up.
