It does seem like alot of hassle to me , if you leave it too late you wont be ready ,but do it too early and you've already fully recovered .

Never see the point of a tactical wank, so much more fun to be a little worked up before a club or a meet, I guess if you have performance anxiety then perhaps it's a consideration I suppose.
