Personal experiences, advice etc all welcome.

It's a great beach . Be prepared for a long walk from the car park ! If it's a purely naturist experience your after you'll enjoy the place. Try to keep anything sexual away from the main areas ... Too many nudist beaches have been lost already due to sexual activity on them

Thanks for the reply.

Where do you park if the beach is so far from the car park?

Also, it is intended for a naturist experience, but depends what happens on the day, where can we safely 'play'?

It the same as sitting on a normal beach but with no close, just sit back relax dont forget to SUN CREAM YOUR WILLY with high numberered cream.

Then get your darkest sun glasses out and peek at all the women. Everyone looks, just dont make it obvious

Use the car park. It's just a fair walk to the naturist section

Take the narrow road off the A496 marked "To the Beach" (very small sign) between Dyffry Ardydwy and Tal-y-Bont. (The one that passes Plas Bannar).

At the end is a pay-and-display car park, with toilets.

There are no shops or facilities etc on the beach itself.

Check the weather forecast, as even a light on-shore breeze can feel cold, and there is no shelter.

From the car park, walk to the beach and then turn right (north) and walk for about 1 km until you see the sign marking the start of the naturist area. It's one of those beaches that makes your legs ache....

Don't strip until you have passed the sign.

Take lots of sun cream, and water to drink.

This is a naturist site, with families and children - and any sexual activity on the beach is NOT welcome!!! (It's also illegal and has got people arrested - the Police do patrol the area)

Play does go on in (illegally) in the dunes behind the beach - mixed in the first half and mostly gay men beyond that. If you want to play, walk up into the dunes, meet people, and just ask for advice. Things change from day to day... Do NOT ask anybody on the beach - you'll get chased off!

There will be lots of men up in the dunes - most are what we call "Meercats" because all they do is watch and you see their heads bobbing up and down.... You'll laugh at them at first, but they soon annoy the hell out of you... They will gather round like flies to watch if you do chose to play and it's a real mood-killer..!

Just go for a nice day out nude and you'll enjoy yourselves. If you go looking for fun, you might have a great time, but 3 out of 4 times there you'll be disappointed. (Local experience talking!)

Have fun!

In the middle

I went with an ex partner, it is a bit of a slog from the car park but worth it, we had a stroll along the beach and ended up walking through the dunes, we also experienced the "meerkats" so just be aware as it might make you feel very uncomfortable

Thank you all for your informative responses. I like to have a general idea of something before walking into a dark room!

Thanks for that info, I'm hoping to go with a mate in July and this has really helped. Nothing worse that looking like a complete twat when trying something new for the first time.

I have been a few times here. I go for the purely nudist experience. I think it's ace. I usually go with my friend and she loves it as well. Loads of friendly people who like getting naked in front of others.

You can park on Shell Island and walk in to the nudist section from that side. However, it's just as long a walk and it's about a fiver for a day ticket.

If you're going for a play then you'll not enjoy it. treat it like dogging. If anything happens great, if it doesn't enjoy the views.

Thanks Mancman. As it is both our first times, we won't be going with the intention to play. She is nervous enough, but keen to try the experience. If any play happens it will just be between the two of us, not really going to swap with any couples or anything. A bit dubious about these 'meerkats' and hope that they don't annoy us or make us feel uncomfortable.

Is it good etiquette to go over and tell them to move on, or because it is a public beach, they can do as they please?

to be fair we've never had a problem with them. You see them knocking about and it's quite funny watching them going about their business.

Everybody is polite and makes u feel welcome. Let's get it right you shouldn't really be playing on the beach or in the dunes so you're on dodgy ground if you start having a go at people.

If u relax and have a laugh n a chat with others you'll love it.

I see where you are coming from, and appreciate your advice. With being our first time, I'm not so shy and will just straight in, hower my friend will be very nervous and hesitant about going nude, even though she wants to try it. Which is understandable. So we discussed about going somewhere quiet and private where we can relax alone until she feels comfortable, then maybe venturing around others and interacting if people come over.

You can always take it step at a time if u get naked n she's wears a bikini or whatever, then when she is feeling braver start taking an item of clothing off for a while and getting use to the feelin. It's really relaxed you'll both love it. People are genuine and will help in any way you can.

oh and don't forget the suncream as a burnt arse or cock isn't much fun at all. lol

Tell her that the naturist beach is just a big, open family area, There's always room to find your own space and nobody has to go nude - it's her choice.

And it isn't all "beautiful young people" - it's mostly us very ordinary older folk, all shapes and sizes.

Stay on the beach and you'll find that people are friendly, but private. If anybody annoys you, tell them to get lost!

She may find it easier to strip and go straight into the water (cool but you soon get used to it!) That way she won't feel that she's being looked at, but hopefully she'll love the feeling of the water on her bare skin - I do!

Nothing to fear - we're very ordinary folk down there and nobody looks at your bits! It's actually very relaxing - tell her I said so!

ps - Don't worry about the "Meerkats" - they stay up in the dunes and don't go near anybody on the beach. They are sad, shy things and will run away if you challenge them...

But they are strange - last year I was just stretched out dozing in the dunes, and woke to find 28 of them (I counted) all sitting on the side of the dune looking down, just watching me.... it can feel slightly odd!

But they only like to watch if they think something "naughty" might happen - they loose interest in ordinary folk who are openly naked on the beach....

Don't worry about them - I don't!

Hate it when people think they can go to nude beach and think it's ok to "play" or when single men think it is ok to parade up and down with a hard on, or situate themselves so they can sit trying to peek between my legs.

A nude beach is just that, somewhere to get nude!

I would suggest that if you want to try the naturist experience for the first time and your lady friend is a little nervous. Do what my hubby did, take her to a nice friendly, family naturist club first.

have to say, we went there last year, and it was really nice to be outside, naked.

didnt play as we werent there for that purpose, however, just after the signpost, there is a horseshoe shaped area thats set back a little, and it seems this area is used by those that want to do a little more than just enjoy the sun (saw 3 couples openly having sex in this area whilst walking past)

there was also a guy sat on a log openly having a wank as we made our way back up the beach to leave, so it happens.

whether its welcome or not, no one seemed to approach these people to tell them to fuck off, so im guessing no one cares.

we just put up our windbreaker, got naked, took some photos then went home.

nice day out.

Fair enough! Well it seems that to just relax and enjoy you need to stay on the beach, and if you want some 'fun' then to disappear into the dunes somewhere.

Just be aware that the dunes don't form a part of the official naturist area (beach only), so the usual laws of indecent exposure etc apply there - and the Police do random checks...

In short - please respect the beach as a naturist area only, and just be sensible and sensitive otherwise!

Belper

Spent quite a bit of time there over the past month and I have to say what a disappointment! The actual place is wonderful, great beach and amazing views but it is infested with Meerkats! The dunes are full of single guys wondering up and down oggling women. Every time my partner and I lay down guys would appear for a quick look, at first it was flattering but it did get tiresome! Even on the main beach away from the dunes we saw single guys with stiffies. It used to be very family and couples friendly but things have changed!

Lots of sound advice not much to say other than go and enj?oy. We love it there. By the toilets there is a field opposite. Only £8 per nite basic but cheap you have to have a tent. Sounds silly but only licensed for tents. We use our Camper but still put up a small tent
