Hello all, I'm new to the site and was just wondering if many people have had this happen to them. I have corresponded with a couple of people now, we add as friends so they can see personal/face pics and arrange a meet then POW! Their profile says that they are no longer on the site. Maybe it's newbie naivety but is this common?

yep happens to us too. It isn't always possible to identify who they will be either.

Yep happens all the time. Also had it on occasion they pop up a few weeks later with same pictures etc

It happens now and again people decide its not for them right now so leave.

Its happened to me quite a lot.one time it happened midway through a chat.one minute we were getting on fine,the next she'd quit the site for no reason.
