Guns/Tanks in profiles (?!)...

Hi Folks, Please note that I DON'T wish to offend anyone with the following, but just wondering why some guys feel the need to put a profile photo of them in a uniform holding a gun/by a tank? The idea of a gun doesn't really 'do it' for us and suggests perhaps a lot about the poster. Just seems really strange to us and wondered if it turned other folks off. Actually saw a profile with a guy with a gun on a tank (!) not long ago...perhaps we're missing summit?

It suggests to me that the profile holder is in the military and as so many women claim to love men in uniform they will of course use that fact on a site like this

One of my pet hates too...

I generally won't meet military folk (If I know about it) - but photos like that just scream about a need to pose and somehow prove themselves - not with me, they won't - it's an instant Block..sorry!

I thought that guns in photo's were against site rules.

It's not my thing but some people like uniforms etc. So cool, they can enjoy it.

Guns are allowed if its in the correct context eg a soldier in uniform.

Waving a gun in your undies in your bedroom wouldnt be allowed.

Maybe they're in the millitary and see it as a big part of who they are and i suppose a profile is there to get yourself across to others.

I know one or two people who are or have been in the military and it does become a part of who they are.

Of course there's the whole perceived 'ladies love soldiers' thing too, which I'm sure many do so why not? If anything it's another screen in the filtering proscess......

I'm not sure why anybody gets themselves all steamed up about something like this ?? If you don't like the photo, move onto the next profile where you may find one that meets with your approval.

I was thinking about posing with my Metrel Installation tester and a pair of side cutters with a hank of earth sleeving hanging around my knob end, but it seems some folks get a bit touchy over such things.

Agreed, there should be a site standard.

SHOE SIZE is our biggest pet hate, that absolutely horrid Size 7 just turns me off, yet nobody puts they have size 7 shoes on their profile. You can imagine the disappoint we have endured due to this....

Agreed, there should be a part on the profile that states if you ever wear a Baseball cap Yes or No. Vital!!

When I see a serving soldier standing in a desert with full regalia, including a gun, I think 'Hero' and not 'Poser'. These guys put their lives on the line for civilians everywhere so I reckon their armoury is an everyday item for them and I can understand why they like to show it off.

Profile photo changed to show me with a mic. Yes I have a certain confidence in myself in that I'll get on a stage and imagine I can entertain people. However know what I'm best at, putting the entire thing together. We all do or being sensible should do to sell ourselves as best as we can especially if you're a single bloke which let's face it there is no shortage of. Single women is an opposite side of the coin, they have rarity value. I'm not saying if you're a single man just say yes to every female who shows an interest, just remeber it's a buyers market

think its a little sad for someone to feel their job defines them, but then others feel the size of their appendage is important too

or how slim/big they are

if you cant embrace yourself as a person, then we arent really interested in approaching you.

V isnt a fan of people in uniform anyway.

Most people at work will grab a pic if they're doing something they think is cool. It's probably not taken for fab but for Facebook but then when they join they think "heh that's a cool picture I'll stick that up too"

Or is this just too much common sense?
