When someone asks to meet and you can't for whatever reason....why do people have to lie and justify themselves. elaborate stories about ill kids, family members dying and sudden extra shifts at work......."sorry can't this week" surely is enough??.....

I am well aware of that....I am a busy person myself, but I don't lie about it....you make arrangements and last minute (literally) someone phones from work or your great auntie tilly dies.....rather hear, "I just cbfa" or "better offer"

I've had this a few times with a certain female on her or was on here, in the end i did catch her out in her lies, see the thing is if your going to lie, you have to have a good memory

It's strange, having been off any kind of dating/meeting scene for many years married, I am really struck by an all-pervasive culture of 'I'll say whatever I think she wants to hear' amongst men, regardless of if it is necessary or not. I just never came across it before and find it quite disheartening to be honest, not being ABLE to believe anything anyone says is a total pain!!

Yes im not quite as daft as i look, you wouldnt believe the stories iv been told, one lie after another, people who have good verifications too, they havnt got a good memory neither have i but its not that bad yet.

Spot on. We took 2yrs out from the scene as both our parents are elderly widows and circumstances were changing on a daily basis. We thought it wasn't fair on others due to this so we decided to take some time out.

I find this quite common and I understand why BUT if you've asked someone to be honest with you then you find out they've lied (and you always do) its so hurtful!!

I'm well aware that a guy would pick almost anyone else over me but at least have the balls to tell me!! Ranty rant!!

Most of our messages when arranging q meet, I will put in them that the only thing that would stop us is family stuff, which to us will come first.

And we would except the same back as it can't be helped, and to be honest we wouldn't want to meet someone who put their kids ect on the back burner to meet us, it is not right.

I'm more offended by people leading me on with no intention of meeting rather than just being honest and saying no thanks. Had it recently with a guy that I'd met, kept saying he wanted to meet but clearly didn't. I don't want to waste my time and theirs so when I've been in that situation I've just been honest and said I didn't want to meet again. If it upsets them then I'm sorry but I've made myself clear and not wasted their time as I hate it being done to me.

Yes she had good veries as well, but just couldnt remember what she had said in the past, and one was only 3 days before, and she was a younger woman, and i dont want to offend any younger people on here, but i find that there not as honest as older people which is quite sad tbh

It's not something that I've ever let concern me. I've had cancellations made for all sorts of reasons and similarly I've had to cancel, sometimes at short notice. I am satisfied that all the reasons given to me are genuine because I take the time to get to know the people I propose to meet. To the extent in fact that I wouldnt need to know the reason. If they tell me they can't make it I know there must be a good reason for that, it's a mutual trust thing and it's part of my selection process.

well they know where i live. i didnt ask him where he lived either.

it was because he said he lived in two different places, so i said are you a driver and he said yes. then he said he worked somewhere else.

One bloke told me he had to cancel. Not a problem as life happens. If he'd left it there I'd have had no problem rescheduling, but he went on to say his dad was in hospital and he had to drive his dear old mum to see him. Again, would not have been a problem apart from the fact his dad must have been called Lazarus as a couple of months previously he cancelled because he'd died!

I used to lie when I was in a couple when my husband got cold feet and decided game of thrones was a better option. Hated doing it, now.....well don't seem to be ale to pin anyone down for a meet so no heed for chilly feet at all

Are we meeting the same person lol, she spun me a tale that she coundnt meet because of family problems etc lol, which i understood, then gets a verie for the day she said she couldnt met, and tbh if she had said we have a meet that day, again id had understood
