I'm not offended, though would be angered if it was being used to provoke in the wrong way. The nazis were not the only ones to want to exterminate others, nor use the symbol, but it's such a powerful symbol that anyone should use it sensitively, preferably not at all.

No, the swastika was used for hundreds of years before the Nazi party bastardised it.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Such a shame as it used to be known as a sun wheel, used by Buddhists and Hindus amongst other religions, and the Nazis using it has completely sullied the meaning. You do see it around Asian countries now and then though.

it was stolen by the nazis from, iirc, the incas or similar.

no, it doesnt bother me at all, but then i personally wasnt the subject of their hatred.

ask the same in a Jew conference, or an OAP home and you would probably get a different answer

"No, the swastika was used for hundreds of years before the Nazi party bastardised it."

it was used by the Templars, then the Nazis took it, because Hitler was doing his thing in the name of the Lord,

PS not my Lord though some twisted idea he had that God told him to do it

It's generally recognised now as a symbol for extreme fascism, so a shame for those Hindi's etcwho had that symbol 'hijacked' by such idiots. 7 million Polish civilians, 6 million Jews etc deaths associated with that symbol now..

On the plus side, whenever you get some misguided, xenophobic, socially inept eejit spraying it as graffiti - but invariably back to front, it always produces a chuckle at the idiocy!lol The likes of Adolf would have thrived on such idiots as easy recruitment

he never wore or showed a swastika.

he did a quinell, which he says is anti establishment, according to his friend a french comic.

however, as his friend holds the _iews that french society and the establishment is controlled by the JEws, then its not a great big leap to see that it is pretty much anti semitic.

apparently anelka is one of the rarer very intelligent footballers, which begs the question, did he really think he would get away with it?

The symbol was in the news this week! Lincoln Council office building has several swastika symbols engraved in to masonry surrounding the main public entrance.

The building was erected in the late 1920's before the rise of The Third Reich.

UKIP Councillor has requested action be taken and the symbols covered up or removed!

We watched a programme about the swastika a bit ago - fascinating and it's a shame that the nazi's took it and bastardised it only for about 10 years but they have damaged the symbol for many people who don't know it's real history. It upsets me in certain contexts, Z

Doesn't offend me at all if used in a religious sense, nor do any other religious symbols related to peace etc.

When it's used as a symbol of hate then I'm not sure I'd say I'm offended, but I'm disgusted and bewildered as to why that symbol was stolen by Nazis

Did you know of its history as a religious symbol?

So in that context it is not offensive, in the same way that the crucifix isn't meant to be offensive, but a flaming one planted by the Klu Klux Klan numpties is.

For those of you who don't live or visit Chelmsford, the is a doorway that is decorated with swastikas in both orientations. this I found out on the excellent Mark Felton YT channel.

If you don't beleive me try Google Earth then zoom in from the front door of Bet Fred, looking towards the corner of the building opposite. There is an upstairs window, look just below it...

I don't know why but I see it every time I see a German car on the road. They make my blood boil.

Interesting fact Hitler pitted Mercedes against Audi to come up with the best vehicle of the time they became his babies.

Principle shareholder in BMW had links to the Nazi party.

And of course we all know VW originated during the Third Reich.

I wouldn't be seen dead in a German car, the irony of that is I'll probably be in hearse made by a German manufacturer.
