And if so is it mentioned on your profile?

The reason I ask this as I do and I mention it, but know not everyone does. Now I know from reading past posts as to whether that would make a difference to meeting them the majority seemed to say it wouldn't. So do you think it should be?

Mine is mentioned on the profile. Just like to be straight up and honest before it got to the phone call stage. But if I tried that way and it went all quiet, then I would know the reason why it did.

I've not, but I feel that it is something that should either be on the profile or mentioned sooner rather than later. I don't believe it would put me off meeting someone, but it is something that I would take into material consideration when organising a meet. If someone isn't great on their feet, then I'd not suggest a clubbing night in Leeds or at BNO, ditto if they have a problem with lights. I'd try to work a meet round what would work best for all.

I don't but I'd prefer to know. As Tina said it would affect what I might suggest for a meet.

I hope you don't feel bad if someone doesn't want to meet you because of it. Any little thing can put people off. A guy once used the word 'boobies' in a mail- instant turn off. I don't mean that to sound flippant or uncaring. Just trying to show that anything can change someone's mind about a meet. You might think it's that but it maybe something else they don't like.

I have epilepsy, though it is classed as a disability i don't class myself as having a disability, simply because I lead a normal life and besides not being allowed a drivers licence it does not affect me one bit, i have the accessional fit but that's it, i don't tell people i meet because it wont affect them so i don't feel they need to know

I think that is a terrible comment to make, "only those who are genuine will look past it".

That's just like me saying "those who are genuine will meet me." Nothing to do with the fact that they are or are not attracted to me. It's all about attraction when it comes to meeting someone, if you're not attracted to them then it just isn't going to work. If it is a noticeable disability that would be noticed upon meeting even of it isn't mentioned then it is only fair that it is mentioned in advance in the early stages of the conversation. Otherwise both parties are being put in an unnecessary awkward social situation.

If my discability likely involved major changes to someones expected fun, then Id mention it. Otherwise, it is about getting to know each other and things dont have to have a set pattern. Many disabilities are invisible and dont have to be anyones business.

I think its best to put it in your profile. It might hurt a bit the thought that you are loosing out on meets because of it but at the end of the day whats not for you is not good for you either. It hurts more when you dont mention it in your profile than as soon you do in your conversation people go quiet on you.

I had the same experience, not with a physical disability but the fact that I am a foreigner and that English is not my first language. Since I put it in my profile I get much less interest but I know those who are interested have no issues with it and it avoids the hard feelings I get each time I am rejected because of it. Upfront honesty is the right way to go in my opinion.

Personally if I am attracted to tgat person then it wont bother me if they have a disability as long as we both can have fun and make each other smile and enjoy our time together. However as Tina has put it its necessary to know in advance.

Honest on my profile, but luckily I've only had grief for being fat! Maybe its because I don't look like I have any disabilities, as 3 of them are invisible. Can't hide the wheelchair or walking stick though. In small clubs, I'm able to potter around, but need to be sat down most of the evening!

Would I meet someone else with a disability? That depends if I click with the person and found them attractive. I wouldn't give or ever expect to receive a sympathy shag.

If I'm meeting sub men to hang from hooks and/or the brackets in my first floor bedroom *I'd* be lacking somehow in not wanting to meet someone with mobility issues or arthritis in their upper limbs?!!

Same here, I (S) have MS but don't publicise it on our profile coz it's my business. If someone suggests a meet that I don't think I can manage then I'll say so, otherwise it shouldn't make any difference whether I tell people or not.

Do you put it on your profile of you've got acne, piles, thrust, a boil on your bum, etc?

At the end of the day, I think it's down to the person whether they want to put down their disability on here. Each to their own I say. Is happily meet someone in a wheelchair, with sticks, anything cos the social aspect is just as fun. I've had hundreds of apologises when I say I can't do certain things cos of my disability (hate that word!) but I don't want apologises. Look past it, see the person.

Being honest is always the best way~in the end this is all down to attraction.

We met a guy once, who said he had a scar on his face, no problem we thought. Hadn't seen a picture but went to meet him. Half his face was missing, I think the shock took away any attraction that may have been there.if we had been forewarned things may have been different.

In cases like that I totally understand. Honesty is best. However mind is not like that, mine is hidden yet funny enough if peeps know they go funny!! So sometimes I wait till I've either chatted for a while or on a meet and they can see that I am not strange! Lol.

As my disability is very much apparent then I feel I should mention it on my profile, as I prefer and expect others to be honest as well. But at the end of the day it is their choice as it depends also on how that might affect a potential meet. I would want to be made aware of as well.

I am partially sighted I don't mention it on my profile as it makes no difference to me

I do mention it just as we are meeting as I can't see them so tell them to look out for me

I also have epilepsy

But only people close to me or over night things I tell people

I also broke my pelvis so can not get in certain positions but that's not mentioned either lol

I have no doubt that some will not get in touch because I have to use a stick to walk around with due to my osteoarthritis in my right hip. Bone has worn away and I have lost height in my right leg and some bedroom positions are not an option any more. But if you pass me by because of this then that's there choice.

Not sure I could leave it until the phone chat and get the awkward silence the other end.

I met a guy once we got a hotel together, I felt a seizure coming on so I went to the bathroom, locked the door and then came out when it had finished, he didn't have a clue, I didn't tell him, we carried on as normal, its only a disability is you allow it to become one

it's never happened so far, there's not really any reason why i would need help, i have lived with it all my life and i have learned the best way to deal with it in different situations, i have on occasion had misfortunes i once cut my head open as i didn't get to the ground quick enough so hit my head on the way down, i also fell once and as i was out my face was against the hot water pipes and i burnt my face quite badly, but luckly both times i was at home alone so no one saw it happens, the trick is to lay down quick before you go and fall, they was both many years ago now thought, you learn to deal with it

I met a guy in a wheelchair and had a lovely time and will be meeting him again. He told me in his first message and there is a pic on his profile. It was then up to me to decide. Had he not mentioned it - it may well have been rather difficult at the beginning as it would inevitably have led to a bit of awkwardness - probs from me trying to pretend I hasnt noticed etc.

OP - your profile reads honest and genuine and you sound lovely. My mum has arthiritis since she was 16 so I feel for you xx all the best xx

As someone who has been involved with a couple of disability groups, I can honestly say I would not have a problem with meeting someone who has any form of a disability but would like to know either on profile or in first message so I could discuss any requirements they may have if any lol

Eg, difficulties with stairs or variety of positions or wheelchair access

Op good for you for not letting your health condition control your life like some folks do

I have Temporal lope epilepsy which only effects me a few times a year & i pass out for a few seconds, luckily its never happened while swinging or on film shoots.

I have always found if someone is to shallow to overlook a persons disability they are not worth meeting anyway.
