Oh clinic always say if you don't hear anything within two weeks you're fine so put me down as a negative.

Nope NHS doesn't make value judgements on this one....though if you're non resident they might have issues with that. Last time I visited my local hospital six weeks ago, the place was plastered with posters aimed at overseas visitors setting out rules on free NHS care.....though nothing in the clinic itself.

prevention is better and cheaper than treatment, so testing is a good use of resources.

I work with horses, and the cost of treating jockeys, and riders is huge, Your point can be aimed at anyone who takes any risk or lifestyle choices, crossing the road, walking, using stairs, riding a bike, driving.

The Insti test (finger prick) is always followed up by a blood test and usually only offered to high risk patients that think they have been in contact with HIV. But routine hiv blood tests do come back the same day but if negative all the results are given at the same time.

On the spot tests are risky, it takes about 4-7 days to get 100% results.

We have our monthly certs for work but for them to be recognized by the industry they have to be the full monty swaps, urine, blood.

Lots of private testing clinics just do a blood tests & charge silly money for an half cocked test, on the spot tests have now been banned on the US porn circuit because of their differing results.

The local GUM clinics do the best tests as they leave no stone unturned.

You can go monthly to any NHS GUM clinic for free but if you need certs/letter like we do it costs us £30 each month.

Paddington do free tests/letters but is to far away from us to make it viable.

if your gums bleed when you brush your teeth, it is more risky, than if they don't.

It's the whole bodily fluids in contact with open wounds or sores that up the risk of infection being transferred. HIV takes up to 12 weeks to show in a blood test that's why it's only recommended to get tested every 3 months. BUT the results are usually back the same day, see previous post as to why you don't get them for 2 weeks.

Yeah I've read that but I've also read about a study in spain where nobody in a huge survey contracted HIV from Oral even if their partner was positive. Seemed to stem from acids and chemicals in mouth destroying the virus. It's a broad subject and pretty confusing to decipher just from internet forums

Depends where I feel like going... Mainly one at derby, one in heanor and one in Nottingham lol xx depends.. I just can't always get into my local as it's only open on a Tuesday and you have to book in..

Most people depending on how many different partners they have should be tested monthly & its good to see some are on this thread, Fab should put a section on the site explaining sexual health & its risks as some people are still very naive on the subject.

I was going to ask that, there are a few clubs out there that offer testing usually run by local gum teams as they do like to get out into the community to encourage more people to get tested. It's a cracking idea.

When we go we get asked how many people we have slept with that month, you don't have to answer but its in your favour to do so & they can then do an accurate account of your sexual behaviour.

We have always been honest about our lifestyle choices, never been judged and the clinic can cater more for our needs, extra condoms,dental dams and the hep jabs.

As a Bi guy, you can get tested via a saliva test without leaving home. I don't know why but this is open only to gay or openly bi men. you register online, they sent you a kit, you post this back and they text u in next 5 days with result. as with prev comments, any HIV test will not pick up your activities in the previous 14 weeks to your test. so yeah, frequency is the key.

Dont trust it as it will be a con, you need blood,swap & urine for a proper test anything else will not give 100% results.

Go to the Terrence Higgins Trust site which will explain tests & how they are done etc.

Saliva as to many gastric juices in it to give a proper test, can you send me details of the online clinic you are using please.
