BBM Now on Andriod and iPhone. The ultimate weapon against time wasters?

Its sad to say but time wasters really ruin it for the rest of us by forcing us to be horribly cynical when we don't want to be.

It can't just be me that doesn't quite trust a person/couple as being genuine or who they say they are until I see them on cam or hear their voice on the phone.

Well with BBM its voice message feature and the lack of the need to give out your number, time wasters have almost nowhere to hide.

What do you think?

Tried it didn't like it. The icon sitting in notifications is annoying and it's a resource hog.

My bbm is on my page but people still think I'm fake I think, cos I have no veri's! But I can see your point there's no hiding really, there's so many apps where you can send pics, voice messages or videos with out the need to give out a number.

A lot of the timewasters I've had a re married guys who get turned on by the thought of meeting that when they've had their wank and calmed down they have no intentions to actually meet.

It won't stop that cos the guy is real but just a coward.

A resource hog? Haven't noticed an impact but I will check that thanks.

I had my BBM on my page but no one replied through it so I removed it. Got a much better response when I put it on twitter though.

So because someone won't put a piece of software on their phone that is associated with a failed operating system they're a timewaster?

I can see how that might work, but I'm not on twitter, I don't really feel the need to follow people. Quite content with Facebook lol, I know that's probably worse than twitter lol.

I prefer whatsapp and KiK too. Whats app being my favourite of the two. My reason for mentioning BBM is that it has a reputation for being the best at hiding you number etc. In theory it takes away the time wasters last line of defence lol

Ahh yes lol

Well for me alarm bells go off as soon as sometime asks me to tell them in detail when I plan to do with them.

I hate it when people throw out a phrase like this because it too easy to do, and leave the person using it thinking they are blameless.....

oh but it is everyone elses fault but mine... oh woe is me!

if you are doing the selection process, and you are coming up against people who you think are timewasters (again come with a defination of the word, because peoples will be different) then the common denominator is you......

if it is not working.. change the way you choose, change the way about going about selection, change all, change none.. but the site gives you different tools you can use... if you decide to use all or use none... thats on you....

OP, heaven forbid you have to take more time selecting people to meet. But no, insist everyone gets a smartphone and downloads a piece of software to prove they aren't going to stand you up.

The irony being they are still able to stand you up.

BBM has its pros and cons. it's fantastic that it's come out for all platforms of phones, but by doing so has opened it up to fakes and scams. Originally to use bbm, your "pin" was matched with your phone, making it so that you were far less likely to do wrong with it. Now all it takes to get a "pin" is an email. So that is its biggest con, but for pros... It has a secure server! With KIK and Whatsapp, anything and everything you send goes to some server somewhere that MAY not be secure. Meaning that somone can freely just sit there and watch or look or heaven forbid, like a few months back, snapchat got hacked and hundreds of thousands of pics and identities stolen. As well, bbm has groups like the one that I have started, allowing many people to chat on the go and share pics.

We've never really had any problem with time wasters...cue a whole bunch of them coming out of the woodwork!...whether it's luck or good judgement, we're not sure...but as people who are looking for couples won't it just be another medium for people to waste your time? How is potentially talking on bbm to still only one half of a couple as is likely to happen from what we can gather going to help you out the ungenuine? Maybe my techno fuckwittery is missing something obvious?

Serious people have a play phone. It's separate to their everyday phone so noproblems with unwanted attention when yiu off scene.

If there are any problrms, then it's 50p or free for a sim and a new number...

Not going to disagree with you Fabio. That's why I said it forces me to be cynical. In my case the common denominator in the past has been me not always following my instincts and giving too many people the benefit of the doubt for fear of offending people.

When I do follow my instincts things go far more smoothly. Not always resulting in a meet but you at least know that no one is messing with your time.

All I am saying is BBM is a great tool for flushing the time wasters out. Not perfect but potentially very useful.

There is no defence against being still up. You can call just before you set off on your journey but even that is no guarantee lol

The cool bit is the ability to leave a secure voice message without the need to give away your number, both partners can easily say something.

Calling someone a coward isn't very nice, people use sex sites for, among other things emptying their balls in a safe way, sitting in front of a computer, is probably the safest sex anyone can have.

He has probably worked hard to pay the bills and raise the kids, which isn't easy, im sure you know, it takes strength to do that.

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Avoiding timewasters? Check profile thoroughly. Only give out number when you're ready to meet. No swapping of pics on phone or email. A quick chat by phone. Contact just prior to meeting.

I never cam for any reason. It's done me ok so far.

I don't like sexy chat as that always, in my experience at least, ends with no meet. Often the guy is looking for quick thrills - probably married. Same goes for pics swapped via phone or email.

I don't & won't.

Charging, carrying & getting a signal on this one is enough.

Its not just buying a throw away Sim. Its topping it up, charging it up & then should you have to swap the number, telling those contacts you want to keep you've another new number

I have had no issues with time wasters or fakes, have no need for a 'play phone' & yet manage to get meets & am serious. But i guess Im the exception to the rule. Except all the other gen swingers that manage without ...

Unless 'serious' in this sense is more akin to desperate for sex....

Me too! But I can dump numbers in my spam folder so I'm not bothered by either calls or texts from people I don't want contacting me.

I can take them out if I do but so far that's never happened.

I seem to have aquired the gamut of communications software, (kik, viber, whatsapp, skype, bbm, twitter and used to use msn / yahoo) and if you don't get a reply from here the rest are a waste of time.

I've not found any of them to be that much of a resource hog (generally thats the screen and whatever app you're using), plus if you're going to waste people's time you will ve a timewaster anyway.

I think we're all irritated by the rude, crude and wasters amongst us, yes with bbm, kik etc. communications easier, more private, if you're going to be ignored or let down or messed around you will do.

Nor us. Never seen the need for a swing phone, never do phone or cam verifications, doesn't seem to cause us any problems.
