Pride is always a good day out anywhere. Brighton more so because of the scale of it and the fact so much of the town get behind it.

I'll be around. Pride is always great but its not what it used to be, sadly.

I remember when it were all green fields as far as the eye could see *cough* sorry, I mean, I remember when it was all about the dressing up, the celebration, the hint of hedonism and the love of diversity. Now its just an excuse to go and sit in a park for a few hours, get pissed and be charged for the privelege. I prefer hitting the bars and clubs now.

I like the idea of Pride Swingers Meet Up

been a cpl of times but missed it last yr .wil be going this yr its a good day out and the meet ups at the pubs in hove after are excellent

Well living in Brighton I will watch the parade, but certainly wont be paying to go to the park.

Pride was started to raise money for people in need, without people paying, people with aids wont benefit, just the pubs, cafes, hotels and clubs.

Are you sure? My understanding is that it was a political event against LGBT prejudice, hence the name and has never been primarily about charity.

It started because of the stonewall riots in the USA, to raise awareness of homosexuality, and has always been used to raise money.

CHE, The campaign for homosexual equality, started marches about 1979 I believe, mostly in university towns around uk,

and they became pride events.

The reason behind paying for the entrance to pride, was to pay for the clear up after the parade. I know why it started and it was a very good cause, I just don't agree with charging to get in.

When you think it costs £600 for a float, not sure of the price for a stall.

I heard that the organisers of Brighton Pride were just so cash-strapped through poor mis-management etc.
