Could it be that despite the fact it's a swinging site some want to play with "like minded" people, and use it as a filter?!!

...if that's okay with you that is!

How does that work, mrs y is a doctor, mr x is a pro footballer, what have these 'like minded' professional people got in common??

How others chose to define "professional" is really not much concern, I have my own business to contend with.

I think it would at least indicate two things that could be relevant to knowing whether or not you want to meet someone.

First it would indicate a higher than normal economic level, which while not very relevant to me, could be very relevant to others.

The second would involve discretion. A professional is more likely to both desire and practice discretion because of the negative views people form about other peoples sexuality. Especially in the workplace, where these things can be very disruptive.

It is not all-important, but certainly can have some bearing on first impressions.

How would you define professional, I get what tie saying but it just suggest snobbery , I know people who are builders who earn twice as much as any so called 'professional ,

I agree about the snobbery. I would personally be more hesitant to meet someone calling themself a professional because I consider myself to be a regular guy. I was just saying it could indicate a few things. You may be right about the hard working guy who makes more than professionals, but chances are he is less into fashion, business suits, luxury cars and fancy restaurants. Not necessarily for certain. There is a stereotype involved in most first impressions I would think, whether we try to or not. I was just making the point it wasn't completely useless as a soft barometer of forming an idea of what someone online is like. Definitely not a critical indicator, but people can often take something from it.
