When people type out/ copy and paste previous verifications onto the main text area of their profile, do they think people will believe they are real? or have they just made them up? or are they indeed real? Am I being cynical? Whats your view on these? I've seen so many people do it.

Not worth the virtual paper they are written on IMO.

Maybe a transfer fee (just like football ) should be paid to transfer verifications from one site to another. Otherwise it could be viewed as a restraint of trade

Rather futile

believe half of what you read, and 10% of what you hear.

this is a course of action for those that cant even be bothered to copy and paste the sydney uni thing onto their otherwise dire profile

They also have them printed at the bottom of their profile. Just SAD.

They are either transferred from another site, or they do it so they dont lose them from Fab's when people leave!

Seeing as you lose your Veri's from Fab if people leave, you can see why..

I have no idea why they do it either I know u lose the veti if the user leaves or is blocked but the tick still remains so why bother and I'm a cynic too I go straight to thinking they are fiction

Wouldn't care if we lost all our verifications if the people we have met left the site, would just go and meet someone new. The need to copy and paste is all a bit sad and desperate.

Sad and desperate indeed.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

I suppose someone unlucky enough to have the people who left their veris leave the site would want it on their profile, but I do think it comes across as a bit odd.

Their profile though...

agree with most comments, but personally I tend to find it odd that you would copy and paste them, knowing that people may not believe them to be real. I guess we all have different ideas as to how to fill out our profile, each to there own.

Safe to say many of us pay no heed to them.

I asked someone once why they did this and they said they wanted to keep who they had met private so copied and pasted the veris but omitted who had sent them

I have seen a few who does say the originators, but when I browse their user name, it doesn't exist anymore, or were fakes in the first place.

Removing copy and paste function would solve a few problems , especially mass mailing and people copying verifications onto their profiles ( would think twice about all that typing

not THAT bothered by it...but if a member leaves the site, let them leave ffs...and use some discretion!-I've even taken pics off my profile for ppl who have left the site(though they arent exactly identifiable of course)

I've got one, for several reasons - and it's totally genuine, word for word.

So why have you done this, what's the point of it. You have verifications on your profile.

yeah I can see you have some genuine ones, so why bother with a copy and pasted one that people may think of as fake? sorry not being nosey, just interested.

I now believe there are some very genuine reasons why people do this. Which makes it more harder to see who might be making it up!

I was a bit embarrassed to display it though

I just meant that every coin has two sides and that a few peeps have msg'd me privately to clarify why they themselves do/ or did it, seems genuine to me, but its not for me to re tell their reasons.
