A meet/date has given for cancelling?

This wasn't here and it was some years back. A man told me his grandfather had died the previous night and that he couldn't meet me because he was arranging the funeral. Apparently he already had the date booked, and yet this wasn't a Muslim funeral. It was, however, a bank holiday weekend.

Even if I hadn't been aware of funeral practices, I would have had to question why someone who had been grieving and comforting family all night was spending quite a bit of time on the dating site in the morning.

Some people lurve drama.

Days later I discovered a friend had heard that excuse given to one of her date's dates ( if you follow ).

Not so much cancelling as I'd been sat in the pub for 30 mins already, but they guy texted me to say he wouldn't be meeting as he was still in bed with the woman he'd picked up the night before.

This is in reference to someone no longer a user on here.

When I was on here as part of a couple, some guy we were supposed to meet sent us a text five minutes AFTER we were supposed to meet. We were already sat in the bar waiting for him. His text said that he had just had a call saying his grandmother was in hospital and dying so he had got back on the bus to go see her.

I suppose it could have been true, but we took it as red that it was just an excuse XD

I have had a guy say that his dad had been rushed into hospital and he wouldn't be around for a while, then was online the following day (when we were due to meet). Suspicious little ole me asked him how his grandfather was and bingo!! Put his foot in it then as granddad had been ill for a while, guess the wife wouldn't let him out to play

The second was a guy who I have met socially, decided to meet to play but when I mentioned condoms, he suddenly developed gout

Not counting some relatives birthday party they forgot they had yet miraculously have a verification for the same night

As for proper excuses, I used to meet a guy on here who was a bit flaky. We'd arrange to meet then he would suddenly remember it was his Mums birthday, or his Dads birthday, or (on one memorable occasion) his own birthday, and already had plans. In the end I gave up arranging anything with him.

I think it was Wyrd who mentioned flaky men. I've had those who have been flaky around phoning and also, although a date has been set no arrangements have been made. They then conveniently have something occur that means the meet won't happen .

Unbelievably they think you cannot add it all up and say they'll rearrange .

Ermmmm don't bother darling .

I think some people arrange more than one at the same time. Then have to let people down or go on the missing list.

They normally go a bit quiet a few days before the meet I find.

The one who kept saying he was running late then finally said he'd driven past the cafe I was sat in and noone in there looked like my pics so he decided I was a fantasist and didn't stop.

Funny how he never mentioned that the police had closed the road so noone could drive past...

My first day back using fab after a long break (not a new profile though) and I jumped right in and advertised for an mmf at my place. Found two suitable men, one very local (less than 10 mins drive) and one from Manchester.

I texted the local one when the Manchester one was about 20 mins away like he asked me to. Then after Manchester bloke had arrived I got a message saying- ' so f $@^ing angry, got pulled over by police, going to be late'. At which point I gave up on him! He texted me again several hours later asking if he could come over now. Guessing he decided mmf wasn't his thing and waited till he thought bloke number 1 was gone!

Its all these fakes and timewasters that grind the gears. For our part we were due to go to a party 2 years ago. Mr G trapped a nerve in his back for real the afternoon of the party. So we called and said we wouldnt be there. I felt so bad not going as I was convinced they would think we were faking. Its taken him almost 2 years to be back to normal (thats the NHS for you). So to paraphrase, sometimes the excuses are for real (probably not most of these though lol)

I had arranged a second meet with a man from a different site, the first meet had gone very well and I was hopeful that something would develop. Had arranged we would go out that night, though where and what time was not set in stone. Texted him that morning - no reply. Texted him at lunchtime - no reply. Sat in the house all evening, waiting - nothing. Got a text the next day that he had switched his phone off all day as he had been tired, but had then gone out with different friends that evening as he had forgotten that we had arranged something. Nice man....
