OK I have to ask what is about swinging that makes people loose the basic command of the english language.

I mean I am getting messages from middle aged people in text speak saying things like "hi u like 2 meet and fuk?"

It really winds me up. I know most people are on smartphones and the like but come on put some effort in to make a good impression.

I'm even starting to get business emails starting with "hey Guys "

This "guys" phrasing is starting to annoy me

Despite my corny reply above, I do prefer a well written message unless it's from people I know. Then I don't care cos I like them for lots of reasons not their spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary.

Central

I'm just using a basic handset, non-smartphone, and it is still practicable and simple to write without resorting to poor text speak. Still, at least such messages are clear signposts about the users, so you're adequately briefed.

Illiteracy really annoys me, no need for it at all!! Text speak should just be banned completely. No place for it any time at all!
