Ok, so a lot of threads here end up with the the Fakes/No Shows comments

It has never happened to us and has never happened to anyone we have chatted to. We (and those we have spoken to) always put it down to luck. Is it really? Or is it a bit of a rumour?

So not sure if this has been done before but to try to see if this really is such a huge issue how about everyone put down how many people they have come across in the last 12 months that :

A) Have turned out to be without a doubt a fake profile.

B) Have let them down with just not showing up.

So ours are obviously

A) 0

B) 0

But that's in the last year. When I was new to the site I had a few no shows. I reckon my filtering technique has improved since then.

The OP does not ask about taken in by them - just has anyone come across them. If you haven't it could be because you were taken in.

A) 0 I have evidence of ... Few that have not replied after leading questions though ... But would never arrange to meet them anyway!!

B) 0 I'm very careful to make sure they really want it, phone call and all that b4... But a few pulled out the day b4 ! But not fake , just can't go through with it for some reason or another !!

I have a very rigorous filtering technique that involves requesting a face pic, reading and re-reading their profile, and not meeting as much as I used to. I was lucky with a few guys a while ago so have a couple of booty calls so am not desperate to meet strangers. I also reduced my one on one meets and go to clubs if I really need a good hard shag.

My problem isn't with fakes and no shows, it's with men who either will not commit to a meet or who will, then cancel or postpone more than once.

B) 0

Either ""single" guys who turn out not to be, fems that turn out to be a trucker called "Trevor", or couples that turn out to be single guys.

After a while you develop an instinct, a few probing questions, or a good look at the profile, and you sense it.

I'm pretty rigorous at filtering, but have - and this is a guess - been taken in to some degree by a couple of fakes, and had 1 meet, where inappropriate notice was given of not being able to make it. So -

B 1

The greater the stress, the less willing someone is to be open, thoughtful and responsive to me, then the more my reservations are raised. And always need to chat on the phone first too, so that we can have interactive dialogue that's immediate, rather than a succession of messages each way.

The main thing is communication, I always try and click through messaging a number of times first, exchange numbers or kik username. Verifications and gut instinct play a big part. But I can imagine a lot of no shows are down to last minute, meet now requests.If it seems too good to be true then it probably is.If someone mailed me out of the blue for a meet now I'd be inclined to think it was a wind up, however I have had one that wasn't (verification backs this up). All in all I think you need to build up a rapport with your potential play mates, this one builds up the excitement and two, if they are truly interested they will continue to exchange dialogue with you. However this is only my opinion and one that I have formed thorough my experiences on here.

A) We've been on here for 3 years now I think ive lost count on the fake scale.. but most of them are couples or females.

B) 8, 1 couple and 7 guys (most recent 3 different guys in 1 week and only 1 gave notice.. be it an hour after he confirmed..).

I guess we got the most fakes when we started, now were more rigorous (i.e Google image search and Skype) before we add or arrange a meet especially with couples.

A - lots. I've come across and reported lots of fake profiles (mostly from reverse image searching suspicious photos), only 1 I was actually chatting to and got friendly with before I realised they were having me on, the rest I just noticed from looking at the hot/newly uploaded pics etc.

Actually I misread A. So to revise the answer, profiles that I have engaged with where I have subsequently questioned whether they were a genuine couple - 1. Not worried about profiles that we pass by, there are lots of those for a multitude of reasons.

All apart from on mystery of our 4 no shows are down to some of the meets we arrange.

If we do last minute arranged gb's or parties this is inevitable and we factor it in by inviting more.

So I'm certainly not wasting hours and days chatting to people who then let us down last minute.

The exception to that was a very long term fb who was on his way to us earlier in the year and never turned up. We'd known him about 8 years and met many times. We never had any text call or email to explain and his account went. Not miffed he didn't show, more upset we lost a friend and hope whatever happened that night he's okay and happy doing what he is.

my response maybe skewing your results as i haven't been actively looking on here for a while and tend to meet a FWB when we are both free.

When i have searched i don't look at the pics (not straight away at least) i read their entire profile, what they're looking for and if they have any no-no's. If i dont meet their profile requirements i don't message, just perve on their pics lol.

Also i make it clear first meet is social unless WE BOTH AGREE to take it further. So no pressure on either parties

Apart from that i tend to flirt with anyone and everyone

A very cynical and suspicious mind. Rarely messaging people till we've watched their statuses for a while. Ignoring vulgar and crude profiles while being interested in those that show personality. Ignoring poorly written profiles. Ignoring shit messasges, Ignoring messages that are primarily aimed at crystal. Ignoring pushy/needy people.

Oh and we go to clubs and are active on the kink scene. Surprisingly enough, arranging meets with people that we have previously met socially, and already know we like makes things much, much easier.

A few months ago I was chatting to a couple not in Sussex and it was all yeah yeah yeah come up and see us, make us smile sort of messages. So I did go up north. Day of the visit...BOOM!!!! Not answering my txts, user no longer online. Happily, I'd already arranged a fall-back so did that instead. I strongly suspect the couple are back on fab, new name, new pics, slightly different profile.

So one timewaster in over a year. A couple of people have cancelled or postponed but that's ok as real life gets in the way sometimes.

Yes, if you advertise a week in advance and get a very enthusiastic message from some guy 200 miles away, swearing blind that he will make a 400 mile round trip for 10 minutes of fun in a dark wood on what might be a cold wet miserable night, you do take it with a pinch of salt.

Not one single no-show. Even the spur of the moment ones have shown up. Maybe that's because i don't go messaging profiles willy nilly though!

I honestly think that all those folk that are getting no-shows, are getting them from non verified, new, 18-27yo bi gals that are "total sluts and want dominated"! You know, the sort of profile that you can tell at a glance from a thousand feet away that it's a guy!

We have a rule that if we are unsure of a profile for whatever reason then we just move along to the next one. Now that doesn't mean they are fake just that we don't spend any time to find out....

We have had a few last minute cancellations and a couple of people who ignored the check up message to confirm a meet the day or so before. But never had a actual no show...

Our selection / vetting process works very well for us. That and following our gut instinct.

Think I've only really had 2 proper no shows...the first apologised a couple of days later after he was released from the cells for setting off on a motorbike that was registered as stolen (I declined making plans for a second attempt) and one where he claimed we had said a different day. Have had a few where I've half made meet arrangements knowing nothing would come of it just to shut them up (ie set a date but they've never managed to confirm a place/time)...do they count?!

Right then, sorry for the disappearing act over the weekend.

We were otherwise occupied all weekend

Anyway......

After extensive analysis of the results the conclusions that I have drawn and will publish shortly in my peer reviewed papers are :

1) 52% of posters have been let down by a no show in the last 12 months

2) Out of that 52% the split was absolutely even between those who have been let down once and those who have been let down more than once in the last 12 months.

3) The figures regarding fakes were impossible to decipher.

4) It is impossible to have any thread on Fab Forums without someone having a squabble

So what does this mean? Out of the sample taken No-Shows are obviously are an issue but it seems it is possible to reduce it by careful choice and checking. It would also seem that experience really does make you wiser in the swinging world

Is this important? Not really but it was good fun so thank you

Lots of fakes on here pretending to be a couple they just a man saying wifey given pernmission.when you ask to soeak to wifey you never can. No shows had a few even by people we had met already .never meet them again.if plans change or something comes up you can always text or message .not to show is just plain rude in my book.i would never do that to someone else .poppyxx

Since I am openly looking for single males, I don't get "fake" couples. Clearly, wankers attack me with their "single male" profiles.

As for no shows - 5 in last half a year ish. 1 fem, 1 couple, 3 guys.

As well, I did "no show" once, but guy started to send me abusive texts just before meeting, so I just turned around and went back home.

For us before Rachel got a regular fb it was

1 no show (very first meet we arranged of FAB. Guy text us after to say he had been there and from what he said it was clear he had been close enough to see us - well weird)

Had 2 where guys were all yes,yes let's meet and then on both occasions the day before said they couldn't due to work, end of the world, wife has going to be home etc etc.
