Swinging expensive hobby?

Because of our location we have to travel. We both like to have a few drinks so that means getting a hotel, it all adds up, we don't mind every now and again, but it can amount to quite an expense.

Do others find the same or do most swing on a shoestring (no pun intended)

Depends on your expectations, most expensive for me is tights, but I can get 6 pack for 2.99, so usually last 2 days.

Being paid peanuts does rather limit one's options.

Especially coupled with single guy entry fees at clubs (which I'm not complaining about, btw, I understand the reasons. I'm just saying...)

Yes it can be expensive, depending on type of meet it can mean hotel expenses and if we are wanting to stay over we pay for it.

Last w/e we went to a club Friday and stayed at a hotel & on Sunday a hotel booked by us and because we wanted to stay over we didn't ask for any costs to be covered.

So last weekend with fuel, drinks, eating on the way, 2 hotels looking about £300 expense.

It is not something we do that often, when we first started swinging and with the initial excitement we were probably spending £250 a week on it.

I think it is like many things in life, you control how expensive or how much you spend.

As a single lady I dont pay much to get into clubs, however, I paid for my babysitter to go on holiday to Tenerife already this year . Between her covering the hours the nursery is closed and me going out socially, she earned more than I did last month.

Should I decide to go out, stay out and drink, on top of petrol, babysitting fees and club entry. Yes swinging could be very expensive.

I haven't even considered the cost of my clothing and seem to go through a pair of stockings each time and at £8 - £10 a go, not good!

Well we meet on the boat its free or here at home and if we go clubbing pay for hotel but its a night out for us not just swinging .. its don't have to cost a lot if you can meet at your own place .. maybe just the cost of petrol .

I don't find it that expensive. If I go to a club by myself it's normally free entry or a fiver.. take my own drink at maybe 3quid.. petrol to get there too...

I don't normally specifically buy underwear for swinging. I normally buy it for everyday use too.

I'm not sure it's much cheaper when I go with my friend to clubs.. as I normally pay fuel and buy his beer.. as he pays entry and any softdrinks I may have...

I haven't as yet ever paid for a hotel for a night at a club.

We are lucky that we have 2 local clubs that we can drive too. And driving means we are on soft drinks so the costs are pretty minimal, far less than a night out in London and not much more than a meal out.

If we stay over and drink then it soon becomes way more expensive.

swinging, like everything in life can be as expensive, or as cheap as you want it,

Lots use money as an excuse,

Very often the unexpected meet is the best, behind poundland at midnight, a dab of lager behind your ears and men will Q up for a shag.

We live out in the sticks as well but also find that we dont make enough time for ourselves to have some fun(our fault we know!) so we try to combine some time away together with some fun with others....best of both worlds and if you shop about you can get some good hotel/appt deals on the internet.

The hotel we normally use local to us costs £89 and it is lovely there. However on Sunday we has an executive suite. The hotel on Friday was £50, and just bog standard and basic.

We also prefer more expensive hotels

Yes it can be expensive but comparable to what ??

A vanilla night out with friends = £100 -£150 easily.

A night out in London with hotel = £200 upwards.

A brilliant night out swinging and meeting amazing people and having fantastic sex ??

PRICELESS

We've often commented that it's quite a reasonable hobby expense wise...we tend to meet at our place for fun or local parties which are either free or cheap...if we have fun in a hotel it tends to be when we're away with work anyway...we incorporate socials or meals out as part of our overall social life anyway and clothes are bought for our own enjoyment so don't tend to count them into the costs...so overall, wine, food, condoms and lube, all stuff we have anyway...occasional club as a treat...we're not skinflints by any means and have a good lifestyle, we just include our swinging activities as a part of that everyday lifestyle...

It is what you make I suppose. A lot say by using your own place or visiting someone els's is the cheapest option, which is it, but that doesnt account for whether you actually want strangers in your home or whether you feel comfortable going to somebody else's house.

I know I couldnt fork out for hotels all of the time, so I choose to accommodate at my house and always offer that first. I have met in hotels, but its nothing something I do frequently.

The cost also gives a good understanding of why people hate time wasters so much. If you have gone to the expense of booking and arranging a hotel, only for a meet to turn out to be a 'no show' - its a big hit to take.

it can add up as I don't drive and don't accommodate when I meet it means paying for taxi's/train's, hotels etc so it can add up yes, but then saying that there are a 3 big hotels within walking distance from me which a lot of people stay in for business so if anyone mails me saying they are staying there its just a case of get ready and a 5 min walk to a hotel that someone's company has paid for so can be cheap as well

Which is why it has to be better being part of a couple, at least you have each other and that third person/other couple is merely a bonus.

I'm appreciative of any man who gets a hotel room because I am too chicken poop to go to his place of abode for a first meet, and I won't accommodate. I must say though, the men usually like my appreciation

most expensive meet we have ever had was going out for a meal with someone.

dont see the point in staying in a hotel when we have an empty house.

just need to sort a spare bed then we can offer friends from far and wide to stay overnight and go home the next day.

can see how the costs would mount up with those that are always at clubs, or stay in hotels, absolutely, but these are people i would suggest had more money than they know what to do with

No I completely disagree, it is not better to be part of a couple, we have fortunately only had one occasion where the hotel was booked and not used for what we intended.

£150 later, we would have just stayed at home, we arrange meets to actually meet people, not for a bonus and our time is limited let alone the expense.

No it adds up pretty quickly.....with my last special friend I was having a hotel meet every three weeks .

Add to that drinks sometimes a meal and it soon adds up .

I work for myself have a small business I was doing a extra hours work a day 4 times a week to make the money up .

Those extra hours I'm not doing now as I don't have a fb on the go at the minute but as soon as I do I'll be back doing it .

Its a price worth paying for some extra exciting fun but means I'm very picky because of the cost in money and my time to earn the extra money .

Sorry if that makes me sound cold I'm not just a realist who would not give up his time for just any body I guess deep down we are all like that at heart

We tend to do social meets on a shoe string by only meeting locally say at our local beefeater (2 soft drink refillers for less than £6 means we can be there a long time for no money) or if food is needed we have a local 2,4,6,8 pub (2 meals and drinks for less than £10). However it's when we go to a club it gets expensive for us, travel, accommodation, food drink and entry usually come to around £120 for the night so it takes a few months to save for that but it's worth it.

No not at all, we have a fucked up night as well, as we have precious limited time alone together and organising a whole night away with commitments is not easy.

It isn't just the financial expense incurred, and as I said we would just stay at home.

If we wanted a special romantic night away we would choose to go somewhere else, and it is an entirely different thing.

We organise meets to play - not to spend time alone together as that could be done any night of the week.

Yeah again I think that is different, when we go to our local club - we don't need to book a hotel as it is a taxi ride home.

Last Friday we needed a hotel room, and that was booked with no expectation of play after being to the club.

yep, never got the 'lets go for a meal' bit either - 1. it costs, 2. it wastes a good portion of the evening 3. you get bloated 4. you usually find something that just bores you about them 5. it's a little uncomfortable keeping a smile or forcing conversation when all you want to do is get naked.

I don't do socials/bar meets/meals anymore either - unless I know them well.

Wow that expensive and your a couple, had a similar experience a while back which amounted to around £200 so yeah I think I may go back to taking coaches to club etc and leave the car for local meets !"

Not sure what being a couple is relevant to?

Most of our meets tend to be pretty local and are usually at someone's house. So only costs petrol and a bottle of wine.

On the rare occasion we travel futher afield and meet in a bar or for a meal. Then the cost can soon mount up.

We normally go to our local club so its £25 to get in and you take your own drinks. It’s only a few miles away and as I (Mr) don’t drink, we go in the car so very little cost there. Not many nights out cost you lees than £30 with the plus point that you can end up having group sex xxx

"Because of our location we have to travel. We both like to have a few drinks so that means getting a hotel, it all adds up, we don't mind every now and again, but it can amount to quite an expense.

Do others find the same or do most swing on a shoestring (no pun intended) "

~If you travel it can cost a lot thats why I prefer to accommodate.

Arrange a meet with a travelling salesman who stay in hotels then no one pays for it except their company who he or she works for.

It can add up.

We try to hit a social once a month.

Hotel - average of £70

Travel - £20 plus in fuel

Food and drinks - £40 plus

Misc £20

Thats £150.... and sometimes there are more than one social a month, so we either spend more, or more likely pick just one.

Parties obviously are cheaper, but we still have to travel, so a party can cost us £30 r £40 to attend.

As I don't accommodate my expenses vary from month to month depending on my choice of meets.... Some months are more expensive than others as I do like the occasional country hotel meet or a City break and this involves meals, drinks. For me it's part and parcel of the 'lifestyle' and makes for memorable decadent times...

There are times where meets involves private house meets and obviously cuts down the cost... I also visit various clubs which is no cheap night out but usually is very worthwhile on the satisfaction front....

My biggest expense is fuel as I recently averaged my lifestyle mileage which for the last 12 months adds up to 8000 miles....

Worth every penny!!

Swinging is cheaper than other hobbies in our experience.

We can have a whole night out at a club, take our own drinks then stay at local hotel all for less than £130.

not many other fun activities that come in cheaper than that.

Then there are meets at others homes, all that costs is a bit of petrol, a few bottles of wine and a box of chocs for the people hosting us.

I actually think that swinging is very doable on a tight budget.

I notice you're not too far from me so yeah, where we are it can work out pricey for clubs (I'm 2 hours to Manchester and like to stay over so a) can have a drink and b) don't like driving home at 3am)

Some socials I book in for early so can look out for cheap sale deals for Premier Inn/Travelodge but often it can be £60+ for a hotel room which is a good wedge for a single even though I'm pretty well off

On the plus side, met some friends up the road last night, cost me a bottle of wine and probably max of a tenner's worth of diesel, but local friends are few and far between unfortunately

We don't get to play too often with other commitments, so we choose our time carefully. We prefer house parties and clubs as opposed to replying on other people. Luckily hubby has free fuel with his company car and doesn't mind doing the driving. We will pay for a hotel if we fancy making a weekend of it and then combine our night to make it a great weekend. Just bought a caravan too so accommodation costs will be quite minimal now too and will be venturing further away.

We travelled to Amsterdam for a weekend away and visited a club there - that was an expensive weekend but not something we do often.

Hobbies like this can be expensive if you choose it to be, but it is something we choose to do as a couple in addition to our vanilla activites, and made some good friends though it too!

some weekends can work out expensive, but if you shop around, there are bargains. We've got a decent hotel in loughborough next weekend for 30 pounds a night. just need to find somebody to meet now.

It is what you make of a night out, it isn't expensive to play at home and have a couple of bottles of wine and a completely vanilla night out can cost a fortune....

We do like Radlett house parties, yes there is petrol and £40 to get in but there is an amazing hot swimming pool, good food, bring your own booze, room to crash out free and the real bonus, acres of grounds we can let our dogs roam in so though locked in the vehicle during party time we don't have to dash home at silly oclock in the morning or spend on kennel fees. Always a good party, wonderfully hosted so it is a great night out before we think of sex....bonus

Just compare it to being in a bar for x number of hours with your friends and meeting someone. You can easily spend £50 on drinks in a night so offset your travel costs against that and swinging is less expensive, but can be a lot more rewarding!

Creative thinking. Have to remember that one. I'm on a very low budget, too, but still would like to go places and meet away from home for a change.
