mobile phone fear

Earlier today I handed my phone over to someone to show them a video that was on Facebook.

For the minute or so that he held my phone I didn't even blink. Not one single nanosecond went by where I didn't observe what was happening.

Am I the only one? Do other people with "pictures" on their phone have this same fear?

Put your private pics and vids in a secure app i.e. one that needs a password to access then.

That way they won't be at risk of being on show to your mates

They know what I do but they don't need to see pics

I did but then I set up things so that there are no pics on the phone. I store them in dropbox with a passcode using the app. Makes life easier and safer

I use VS (Video Safe) app on iOS. I believe it has an Android equivalent.

Pass protected, and doesn't look out of the ordinary amongst other apps on my homescreen.

Titz Towers, North Notts

My phone cost £8.50 and any pic I take with it looks like a £50 to who can tell what is competition.

My PC on the other hand, that has all of my pics from nights out and so on, gets used by no one but me.

However, I do keep checking ebay for a function where a black ops helicopter drops a squad of SAS into my study and kidnaps anyone who does start tinkering with it.

And if it was stolen,

use password protected zip files or put them onto a cloud based solution,

The very thought of someone else using or viewing my phone gives me the heebie geebies! As well as downloaded pics, our own pics and vids, there's internet browsing and history as well as notifications for texts, kik and my dirty Twitter account. I hardly ever show people things on my phone (except when I recently had a video of a friend's wedding on it. I wouldn't let anyone else hold or touch it and warned he they did they 'might see something they wish they hadn't!'

we also make a habit of clearing history on the iPad just in case someone asks to borrow it!

I use dropbox. I take pic, it gets uploaded to the interweb (which no one can see), then gets downloaded to PC. All automatically, then i delete pic on phone...

You can actually go into settings in your iPad and then scroll to safari you can set it to use private browsing all the time

So! To make things simple.

In a world of security breaches, privacy issues and personal information disclosure where, not ticking the right box could spread your pictures to SE Indonesia in a micro second. The answer is to load them to a readily accessible location for the world not to see, in the hope those who make apps are good people.

I used to use an app like vaulty ... Password to it was a 'phone number' you had to dial. Anywhoo, youngest spawn showed me how easy it was to see all hidden items by simply uninstalling the app! Thankfully no mental damage was done as the photo's were just family ones!

Essex.

We had a little incedent a couple of weeks ago. A friend we have made through swinging but not played with sent a txt message to Frisky. Our eldest son unlocked the phone and read it. He then handed Frisky the phone was very off with her and started crying. He thought she was over the side.

It all got cleared up but we've both changed our phone pin numbers...

I no longer keep certain pictures on my phone and I've deleted some contacts as I had a Windows phone: it displays your pictures and shows your friends avatar pics.

I was about to show my sister my holiday snaps when a picture of me doing unspeakables to a playmate appeared.

Cleared that then the moving tiles showing contacts revealed one of my friends had made his knob his avatar!

I don't really trust a lot of these apps or online storage as you do never know who can view them. All ours get backed up to a home storage server which we can access and upload too anywhere.

My phone comes with a safebox, but you can't hide apps in there, and people still see your internet history or tabs still open in your browser :/

App called keepsafe when sending to other person you can either transfer back to gallery on phone or use safe send which the recipient only has approx 20secs to open after that they cant see it. Advantage being it stays in the safe.

See, this is where hi-tech convenience is gonna bite you in the ass!

So, this is why we DONT use our phones for nawty pics!

We use the old faithful digital camera, with a removable memory card (nothing saved onto the camera memory lol!), and when we download them onto the desktop, it done onto a password protected area, before the card is wiped.
