I think sending a wink is best way to see if someone is interested why do so many people say don't bother sending winks they are ignored what harm is a wink better then a friend request or a message if they wink back then send a message ? Anyone views on this ?

Depends how many you get. I don't mind as I'm not awash with messages. But if you're getting 20+ msgs per day you prob wouldn't bother with the winks. And winking shows less effort being made I guess too.

Yeah but rather then read end less message if you get a wink look at the profile if you like it send one back and start messaging from there

Personally i dont answer winks because i am to busy chatting through messages and nosing on forums

We don't mind winks but look at the more of a "polite wave, look at me " and have started some very nice chats/meets that way

I totally agree with you mate, as i think that's how winks should work. If i get a wink, i'll look at the profile and if i like what i see, i'll either wink back or message the sender.

Unfortunately though, it seems most women and couples get tons and tons of winks, messages and friend requests every day, so in reality it's unlikely they'll even bother to look at the winks they get.

I never look at winks - so to me a message is better but on this account I never look at messages, so I am probably not best to give advice

I don't mind winks and sometimes look at them but couples and women do get hundreds each day and I personally don't have the time to look at loads of profiles.

Plus most don't have photos anyhow so a message shows that you have read my profile by sending a face pic too x

thats all very well but the majority of single male profiles have no information on them, so you cant really tell if you would be interested or not.

we dont have the time to send messages back and forth just to find out we're not interested.

thats why we dont respond to winks...a message is much nicer and we can tell quite quickly if we're interested.

IME a single guys is more likely to get a wink from a couple. I have had a number of them and when I do a considered reply more often than not hear no more. That leads to the suggestion that some people perhaps mainly couples send out lots of winks and wait to see what they get back then from there decide who they will keep in contact with. I guess that understandable.
