Not so much a spelling mistake but a Spoonerism!

Around 20 years ago, a receptionist on duty at my hotel was overheard saying to a couple who'd walked into the Hotel to enquire about room availability that day, "I'm really sorry, we're bully fooked!"

Luckily the couple saw the funny side of it!

"well over my years here made loads ...... cook and cock .. yes my finger don't work with my brain all the time , "

Spelling mistakes can be quite amusing but does anyone else find general illiteracy a total turn off?

We view it as first impressions as there is no excuse for illiteracy except laziness....

Depends where it is. In a message dashed off in a sex crazed moment, the odd spelling mistake is understandable.

On the other hand, when it is in your profile, or worse the headline to a profile, it just shouts out 'lazy'.

If they can't be bothered to proofread that, then I expect them to put little effort into their bedroom activities.

i can never understand the correlation between bad spelling and bad sex.

V's spelling can be atrocious, but sex with her is awesome

prefer people that make a few mistakes whilst writing a message or profile, than those that try to make themselves appear superior by using huge words they probably had to look up in the first place.

I have seen a profile of a guy on here, he firstly states "sorry but I am dyslexic so please ecuse my spelling. I have no problem with this.

I nearly sent my sister a text that could have been embarressing. I meant to say, "just visited dad & he threatened to kick my ass." Just about to press send when I realised that due to bloody predictive text it read, "Dad threatened to lick my ass", So wrong on many levels. xx

I was in college and groups would gather and chat before class. One draconian lecturer said we should not stand around arguing in large groups as it blocked his way to his room.

We said we were not arguing but debating. Some person put up a sign "No mass debating in the corridors"

As the mum of an adult dyslexic I sympathise with people who can't spell however do not condone the use of text-speak by anyone over 15 years old.

Well said. I don't respond to text-speak, and I ignore people who talk in street slang (eg, yo bruv, sick man!), or tell them that if they are going to talk to me, to do so in English.
