Can swingers also be religious?

It's an open question, if you're single, or a swinging married couple, can you also class yourself as religious?

Especially if you have made certain vows, or your faith does not permit you having other physical relationships.

I know religion is an emotive subject, but I thought I'd throw it out there to the forum and see reactions.

Which religions are you asking about? Many promote free love amongst disciples.

Also, why can't you have a faith and enjoy this kind of lifestyle? To many , doing this is as natural as having a faith?

swinging breaks quite a few of most religions basic laws.

Most people who are "religious, including the royal family, priests, vicars etc also break some of the laws, so I suppose it comes back to a persons beliefs, morals and consiounce (spelling)

My own religion is to treat people how I would like to be treated, simples.

I have faith, but not a religious belief.

My swinging lives happily alongside my faith.

Religion is not about making sure YOU dont break the many contradictory rules

It's about ensuring OTHER people don't break them

From my limited observations a lot of swingers have been damaged or hurt in the past, ( of course so have non swingers)

and chose the swinging lifestyle for many reasons, self gratification being quite high on the list, and that's a very valid reason.

Religion was invented by the rich to control the poor,

Swinging threatens society, as it takes people out of the norm. Many marriages have been saved by swinging,

So of course there is a place for diversity and choice.

The Greeks were at it long before someone decided to write a story about a bloke and a cross.

"

Purely because it caught my attention. The well established religions were born out of poverty and despair. Giving hope to the masses. Also to explain and give meaning to things we didn't understand because our worldly ignorance. Also the teachings tried to harmonise people under one belief and also teach hygiene and positive society rules enforced by fear of a cost in the afterlife.

That the leaders end up rich, controlling and at times less than they teach is true but this happens later simply because power corrupts.

This is why we should fear committees. They are as bad and you never quite know where they will spring up.

It's curious how people can be wonderful until you group them together then slowly trouble breaks loose.

Its this question of honesty again! No one will admit to being a swinger or religious! So we will never know, also we don't need to know!

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

Depends on the religion. On a similar post recently I posted that paganism and Wicca positively encourage sexual freedom.

" Especially if you have made certain vows, or your faith does not permit you having other physical relationships."

To be fair I think the op was more specifically asking can you reconcile your sexual polygamy with a religious belief system who's doctrine pretty explicitly dictates to "know" more than one person to whom you are joined in wedlock is a rule violation that makes one an outcast in the eyes of the religious myths god character

And the answer is a simple no, you would be either a liar or hypocrite . I suggest liar with respect to using the word belief , as if you truly believed the myth you are told is fact then the consequences of religious law breaking would be sever and eternal. What they maybe are, is a creator believer but not a specific religious doctrine follower despite saying so

Of course all academic as the chances of a creator existing are beyond slight, the facts of evolution alone negate any purpose it could fill and most of the mythology associated with most of the human invented myths can be easily laughed away as blatantly inconsistent, zero continuity, factually and evidentially devoid human inventions with not so hidden agendas

So swing happy xx

We are Pagan, and we know of a few other Pagan swingers here. Most if not all Pagan paths regard sex as something natural to be enjoyed, not as something sinful to be repressed or ashamed about. Pagans don't believe in the devil or hell either.

Some Wicca covens use sex as part of their rituals. R used to do sex magick many years ago.

Roman orgies actually stared off as a way of honouring their Gods and Goddesses - much more fun than going to a dreary church service!

Be a lot more believers if religion did not discourage sex for fun(which it is).
