you can take your time to read the posts and get to know the personality

its a slower pace and you have time for a considered response

you can agree or disagree but most times your allowed to say what you think - even if its complete rubbish

yes there are clicks

but they are there in the chat rooms and in real life

yes there are the 'fabulous ones' but they tend to date each other so its cool

and yes there are the sex crazed ones who just have fun

i like them the best

though to be honest they tend not to know as i admire from afar

all in all i like the forms

you can get what ever you want from it and its not a fight to have your voice heard xxx

love this post, very honest and very true.

I love the forums too, I just wish sometimes I could take some advice from above and ........

Take my time to read and digest a post and compose a reply, all too often I do respond to quickly with a badly thought out response that with afterthought could either have been worded differently or is too easily taken in the wrong context.

The best part of the forums for me is personal, over the years I have learned a lot from them, I have my opinions re-affirmed by listening to others and on other occasions I have had my opinions changed by listening to other peoples points of view.

Long live the forums (and the meerkats)

have only been posting here for last couple of months, but it's getting addictive.

I agree, too, that you can read the personalities behind the posts, so much so that sometimes you can pre-empt what they are going to say before you read it.

It's like a "life form" in itself, lol.

Both Kate and I are really looking forward to our first Fab social in May, so that we can meet some of the people we converse with here.

We like the varying subjects, the fun, the sadness, the seriousness and the downright daftness that we tease each other with.

have to say that on other sites i have been on i have never rally gone in for the forums and thought them boring and geeky however over the last couple of months i have become a forum addict an fully recommend them to everyone who wants to get to know the people that use this site.

they are often educational and always fun - long live the forums and the forumites

It's true to a point that personalities can be seen through posts, although I believe there are a few that really hold back, or seriously think before posting, and those try to come up with what they believe to be the correct answer rather than say how they feel on the subject.

What I don't like about forums (any forum at all, not just fab) is the oldies forget they were once newbies, and some hypocrisy exists, in that some things posted by newbies can be torn to shreds, where as if an oldie posted it, it would be dismissed, but that happens in any forum.

Other than that, I think it's clear to any frequent visitor I like the forums.

My own experience with forums, and I belong to a good few vanilla sites, is that, some people are very wysiwyg, and others are completely opposite.

Some really loud mouth arsey ones are often quiet little mice in real life who lack social skills, and hide behind a computer screeen when they post.

Some write posts the way they would speak them, myself included, and I am very wysiwyg! Peeps can read me like a book!

I agree with you there. I've also noticed single guys can post something and be torn to shreds but a couple can put up a similiar thred and people bend over backwards to offer advice and support. Some are very opinionated and boorish which is not a problem until you have a different view to theirs but hey you find that every where.

I enjoy the forums mainly as I have learnt things: some I could happily have gone through my life not knowing!

I've also had many laughs too and some of the forum members are in serious need of medical help

That said I'm still here and it's still fun so it can't be too bad lol

Forums are very additive, however, I go through phases with forums, moving on from one to another, depending on what is happening in my life.

All forums are the same, you get good eggs and bad eggs, just like real life!

I like hanging out on here, as I do get some cracking great laughs from some ofthe posts, and have meet some really nice people whom I would call friends, and one that is a friend with benefits!!!

one thing just occured to me is that although we dont meet single guys (its in the profile honest)

i have cyber met a few via the forum chats and i must say i rather enjoy their company

i even miss them when they are not around - bless em - so i see the forum away of breaking your boundarys too and helping you look at things differently

Did not spot that one, oops!

Left off a space between 2 words and "meet" instead of "met"! Shroddy!

I don't think personalities shine through. I'd have to meet the whole person to make a judgement and i know that my opinions of people change over time. It's usally the wankers that turn out to be good people and the 'fabulous' people that are noticed first are usually revealed as self indulgent slime balls.

Many people I have met at Chameleons tell me they never liked me based on my forum posts but think I am completely different in person, am I, I don't know because we never really know how other people see us.

The problem with the written word is that it can come out harsher than the spoken word, it is much easier to be seen as a "know it all" or "up your own" when all you have to go by is what is written and not what is spoken.

i love the forums and enjoy nothing better than commenting, but i'm also one of those that doesnt always read the comments before leaving a comment, must make sure i do that in future, pointless saying something thats already been said.

Its also a good way of meeting new people too

I really enjoy the forums and they are good reading and a really good insight into aspects of swinging (and life) that I'm unfamiliar with.

I'd agree with Jed's post near the top of this thread because I sometimes write something and think "That really didnt come out the way I wanted it." Or I find people read things a different way to me.

There's food for thought aswell because for example I disagreed with Jed on a topic about (I think) the entry prices for couples and singles.

I read back over it afterwards and thought "You had a point there" so a lesson learned I guess.

i think you are right, i often get taken the wrong way on posts or on msn etc as my sense of humour can be somewhat sarcastic etc - all the simleys in the world dont help either

my boss once told me that I write aggressively, and that I try too hard to get my point across. Since then I have conciously tried to think before I compose my posts, but when I look back on some of them, they still sound like tripe

Might even change my name to "The Tripewriter"

I used to love posting on the old MSN group forums before rotten old MSN closed them down. It's great to find similar forums again. Yes they are addictive. (Hello to Sassy - who was a fellow poster from the old MSN days and recognised me when I joined xx)

I'm a regular in chat but I find, as has been said before, the forums allow people to think before they write and to write in more depth, thus leading to a greater understanding and tolerance of differing views.

On a personal level, debates/post/comments in the forums often lead to private mailing which expands the perceived personalities more.

Through this I have made closer friends than I have in any chatroom and I hope this continues.

I also get a damned good laugh at some (humour intentional or unintentional) and it perks me up for the day xxxx

the forums here are quite fast and almost like being in chat. Go and have a look at LS. They only post once a month or so.

^^^ Kidding, but when was the last really "fun" thread you could just laugh at every post, it seems like most posts now have an agenda, ( not new I know ) but in the past they were the minority, now its seems well, maybe its just~~~~ sad

I like the forums because,

No mater what someones view point, there is someone with the opposing.

Good way to spot the desperados, always agreeing with someone for the chance to play, but later threads have another view point, the creeps or fanny lickers lol.

Understanding some people, by what issues some have in their lives by what they post.

And knowing what some are like, by their posts.

Please please never stop posting people
