"When they didn't accept your friends request, then didn't share their mobile number, why go ahead with the meeting? "

"When they didn't accept your friends request, then didn't share their mobile number, why go ahead with the meeting? " ^This I wouldn't have gone ahead with it if the conversation was all one way. Doesn't sound like they had any intention of going ahead with the meet.

"Arranged to meet a couple in a large busy pub last week. Sent them a friends request which they didn't accept, although we did exchange face pictures. Sent them our phone number, but they didn't send us theirs. So we arrive, get a drink and wait. After half an hour nothing - no sign of them and no phone message to say they're running late, so we leave. 10 minutes later, 40 minutes after the arranged meeting time, we get a txt, which we found when we got home. We're now blocked, sorry, is this our fault?" From your description of events, nope not your fault,, howeverI think there were red flags there,:*}

"If I had sent a friends request that was'nt accepted and a phone number that was ignored then I would'nt have bothered to get off my arse to make any sort of effort to meet them regardless of what was said in messages" This

Its funny when you browse these forums because its often astounding how many people lack any sort of common sense. Wont give us their number or accept a friend request ? ooh off I go to meet them then what could possibly go wrong

OP if you couldn't spot the warning signs when they were that obvious then yes I think you need to take some responsibility. You certainly need to look at what you are doing to ensure someone is genuine.
