What do non site supporters think of the fact that the previously very handy profile feature of "They last mailed you" and "You last mailed them" is now being gone unless you site support? The thin end of the wedge? Xxx

Non-suppoters don't get 'Looked at me' either I think. So that's brought the cost of 'you mailed/they mailed' down to 4-4.5p a day, ain't it.

If Fabs paid US for being on here, some people would moan that they're not getting value for money...

It's £5 for two months silver site membership. Is that really too much to ask for and why shouldn't you be expected to pay for some features? Some sites cost £19.99 a month just to send messages & use chat!

peace. I do support from time to time. All i am getting at is it was a bit sneaky of them not to annonce it is all. A few years from now it could welll be tha case that you hardly get any features of worth, inc these forums, unless we part with somethin like 30 quid or even more to get em. Rather like Plenty of Fish is set up at the mo. Thats all i mean. Xx

And so far for me this has been by in large the best site I have visited over the years.

I have been back and forth on this site for over 3 years with different profiles and the people are all top notch and the chat rooms are always vibrant and the cost is minimal so its a big from me

because thats how it begins..gradually..a little here an a little there..so people dont really notice as the price creeps up..and up and up and free features disappear..on plenty of fish now, once you join without upgrading..all u can do is have a basic look around. X

This is a free site, if it stops being a free site, that is up to the owners, if you don't like it, leave.

I've had conversations with lots of people over the years up to last Saturday, fab is the best site by far. I'm a silver supporter and wish I'd done it ages ago, but even for non supporters it's terrific site. I'm a SH member and have the free membership from before 2006 but it's still no where near as good as here even if you're a non paying member on here.

Sounds like penny pinching to me, of like feature pay supporter fee, which hasn't changed in 4 years I've been on site. I pay religiously every 5 days because I like extra features.

Like I say, you want the feature, pay the £5, as they say nothing free In life nowadays

Fab used to be totally free when it started, it's only since the current owners took over that a site supporters scheme was introduced. Before then we all had to endure the adverts that funded the site and it's development.

Why? The site seems to work fine as it is - there are plenty of people willing to part with a mere fiver and support the site so why the cynical view that at some point SJ & Mark will decide to suddenly piss off everyone by introducing a fee?

There's been many changes over the years that mimic sites charging a hefty fee - all added with no compulsory cost.

And at the end of the day if anyone's not happy with paying - vote with your feet and go join a rival free site as good as this!

*if, of course someone sets one up!

There has been no change - this feature was only ever available to Site Supporters.

As far as I know you have only ever got that feature if a site supporter.

I don't think £5 is a greet deal of money to pay out to support the site and I think it's greet how you pay by sending a text. the last site I was on I was paying £20 a month for the same things you get on fab so am with everybody else support the site

With the amount of users on this site i suspect that site supporter is far more profitable than smaller sites with far fewer members and a significantly higher mandatory charge. And the free membership will guarantee continued growth.

It is at the moment relatively free.

But how long before the only free part you get is the sign up, then the rest has to be paid for like other sites?

As a long term member and a couple who used to be gold members, we let it slide because we just weren't meeting as we used to.

However just over the horizon I can see the gathering clouds of " You are free member and you have 10 messages. To read them please subscribe" loitering. I may be and hopefully are, wrong.

However business is business, people who own them are always looking to improve profit margins. Its the way of the corporate world.

I'm not brown nosing Fab here... In my honest opinion Fab is total value for money from the features this site has to offer in comparison to other sites and is also so user friendly too...

I've joined another site recently and pay in the region of £20 a month... So far for me it doesn't compare at all with Fab... I'm giving the other site a couple more months as I appreciate the new member situation...

Fab is value for money and offers me nearly everything I want from the lifestyle...

Keep up the good work Fabsters backroom staff

I have always been a gold supporter, mainly because of the pictures but it is very useful to see contact history.

It's obvious really that non site supporters will not get the extra features available to those who pay such a small sum each month.

The price has been the same for years. Ive been on here in one form or another for 3 years and it hasn't changed in that time. I think the price for what you get is exxellent. It's sometimes peoples expectations of this site that let them down.

The site is free so the owners can do what they want. You cannot have a contract without consideration (I.e. Payment)
