When I first made the move from Userplane to New Chat, about 3 years ago, I found the same thing. It felt that people already had their own groups of friends in that chatroom, and it felt difficult to be 'accepted'. However, with perseverance, and by putting on my web-cam, I was accepted within a couple of weeks.

The task is harder now, as there are many more chatters, but perseverance will get you there.

And before anyone jumps down my throat and says "It's my right to go in the chat rooms without a cam", yes you're right. But it's also everyone's right to choose who they talk with, and not everyone will talk with people who aren't on cam (although I will).

I don't think its ignorance. It's just a case of you getting yourself known to the regular chatters. Some say its too clique, but what you have to remember is that many of the chatters have met or known each other weeks, months or years even.

Just keep trying, I'm sure you'll begin to get recognised. I did and was welcomed with open arms.

Have to say, out of all the chatrooms, I have found the northern room to be the most chattiest and friendliest..

"is it toooo much to say hi????"

I find that the chat rooms are very cliquey. Same old faces (and wankers) every time I look.

I still say "hi" to everyone who says "hi all" in chat, so I don't see the problem.

"is it toooo much to say hi????"

Hi.

I find the chat rooms, over the past 4 years have become very busy and hence littletime to chat. Patience is required, but civil behaviour would be nice too eh?

Runcorn

You have to remember sometimes in chat there are 180 people. People are arriving and leaving every minute. So although you have 180 people in the room who those people are constantly changes.

I have seen people come into a room with 180 people. Say nothing. Not even a hi everyone. Then 10 minutes later type "Is nobody going to chat to me/us?"

I dunno when i go on cam its damn hard to keep up, especially if the room is full but i try my best to say hello to everyone. Sometimes you need to prod me more than once though! Mrs x

Need to know basis

I've only just this week gone into chat. I don't think it is ignorance, sometimes I'm a lurker, sometimes I chat. I don't always say hi when I enter the room because its far too fast for me - not being english makes it very hard to keep up with the text speak, acronyms etc...
