When addressing my wife's lover in email etc, what title should I give him, mate sounds wrong but I don't want to go sir/master either?

I would address him by his name... I have little experience of that topic but anyone that I would be corresponding with that didn't deserve sir or master then I would use their name.

yep first name would be fine.

Mr xxxxxxx sounds a little official. Sir and master are usually for owned subs, so unless thats you first name is casual enough?
