social or antisocial?

What has happened to the word sorry? It seems its just not in some peoples vocabulary

The other day I enquired about a social in the East Midlands. I was told to be a a certain pub at a certain time. I asked how I might recognise the organisers as they had no photo on their profile. I was told that they would be parked in a silver "xxxxxx" car at the rear of the pub and would enter the pub at 1pm.... Ok... I arrived at the pub at 12.50 after a sizeable journey and did not see a car of that colour or make. So I went to the front of the pub and waited... and waited... and waited in the freezing conditions. After an hour I decided to give up and made my way home. I contacted the organiser who had the cheek to tell me that I wasnt there, and that they had been there on time and looked out for others but nobody arrived. I asked where they parked and was told... oh we used a different car... I asked what time they went in as I had been outside the pub from 12.50 and described the people I watched going in and out of the pub... I got no further reply and they have subsequently blocked me!! A simple "sorry" would have gone a long way. Why not be honest folks.... and a little be more considerate?

That was not very nice I agree.

Hence I prefer socials at clubs, and get to know as many people as possible before the event via the forums and PMs.

My first social was at kevnkat's pub up in Barnsley, and I exchanged PMs and face pics with a few people before I went.

When I got there, I went up to the smoking deck, had a quick look, it was kind of dark and I did not recognise anyone, so I headed back inside, to be called back as Raz, swingmates, kev and kat recognised me, bless them!

The rest, as they say, is history!

Try joining a social at a club and see.

They were obviously idiots who thought they were having a laugh,timewasters who got nothing to do with their time.

You dont say if they were verified or chatted on phone so you knew they were a couple?

Sadly we have heard of this a lot..

u got friends tell them and whoever it was will so get the message when no one will play their stupid little games ....

Continue to have fun hun there r genuine ppl out there but a wee warning dont go meeting ppl u havent either seen pix of or saw on cam or even spoken to just not worth the time and effort hun xxx

Fortunately people like that are in the minority. In future I'd suggest you attend properly organised socials/events all of which you can normally find in the events section on here. Keep your chin up and get back on that horse xxxxxxxxxxx

sadly it was advertised in the events section on here, thats where I first saw it. Not to worry.. lesson learned...lol

Maybe next time you should stick to events that are advertised not only in the events forums but in the meets request and party forum too,at least you can see how many other people are attending and just how busy its going to be

It would be a good idea to exchange phone numbers before a meet.

If peeps are not willing to do so even when a meet is imminent, then I smell a fish and would decline to proceed any further.

Sorry to hear you got let down Les, I had a similar thing happen to me last time I was on Fab, I arranged to meet a Lady at a Pub of her choice after lots of messages and a couple of phone calls.

I arrived a little early and the Lady was there with 3 Men so I watched them for a few minutes before approaching them, after I introduced myself and a little chat one of the Men said "so are you up for the Gangbang then" I said no a Gangbang was never discussed and it's not on mine or ******s Profile.

I told the Lady I was leaving to which she replied "your loss" I said I can live with that and walked away, one of the Men followed me so I gave him some advise and a couple of choices, I got out of the Pub safely and went home.

I received some abusive messages from her so I blocked her, thankfully she is no longer on the site.

Take care and use your thinking caps when arranging meets folk.

The reason it is not allowed is that the information provided is often one-sided and bias.

I doubt if you would like being bad mouthed by other people if that is allowed.

If peeps want to know more, they can always find out via PMs!

That should make no difference at a social function .

He went along to meet other like minded folk and to chat etc.

I think this tale is disgraceful and i hope who ever did this , is reading these comments.

Its a sad state whe things like this happen but we find it more common then we though.

We have meet some great people on here some of which we are still very good friends with but have also had our share of fakes, time wasters and people who just dont turn up.

Often their is some petty excuse but at the end of the day people like this we could do without.

We have often thought that while we have a "Verified Genuine", we should have a fake, timewaster etc section.

Dont give up though as their are many very genuine nice people one here, its just finding them

As others have said maybe a good idea to get at least one persons number so at least you will know one person. Also check verifications of the ones going lots of people who have been to socials have verifications to say they have been to one. Better look next time. There is always the one at chameleons on the bank holiday may sundayI here a few nutters going to that one lol
