Or, you could try a pub or a coffee shop.

Hotel doesn't scream social meet to me.

McDonald's. They are all over the place, usually easy to find, plenty of parking, low cost......

I would not meet for a social in a hotel! Coffee shop, pub, local attraction etc more appropriate.

a hotel would suggest expectations beyond a social...even if we're staying in a hotel somewhere for other reasons, we'd never suggest it as a social venue especially not to a single woman...

I wouldn't have a social meet in a hotel!! I'd agree to a coffee or a drink, or an ice cream on the prom seeing as I live by the coast

bar or cafe or as we have suggested a swingers club with no guarantee of play but if you dont hit it off may find others there or simply enjoy facilities

Epic fail dude!

To us, a social meet is just that, not a "let's meet in a hotel so that if we hit it off we can get a room" meet.

If we mutually think there might be a chance that we will want to have some fun after a social meet, then that is discussed before-hand, and appropriate back-up plans are discussed also.

Just to be clear... what sort of hotels were you thinking of?

If it's one of the bigger Hilton or Marriott type hotels with the large coffee lounges and bars... it's as good a setting as any.

If you're thinking more along the lines of asking them to meet you by the vending machine at a Travel Lodge.... hmmmm.
