messages showing as "unread"

So we've messaged someone and had a good conversation going (or so we thought! ) then it all just came to and end. Our most recent messsage shows as "unread" in our sent mail, but they've been online a few times since we sent it.

Besides them having just chosen to not read it, is there any other explanation - like they've blocked us and now the messages which were already pending don't show up in their inbox or something?

Any help appreciated!

If you click on their profile and it doesn't show you are blocked maybe? If they have blocked you, they can still read your message.

Maybe they have changed their mind about taking things further and don't know what to say or maybe they have something organised on the meets and events forum and are just checking that, or maybe they just have time or don't want to read your message. And you maybe one of many messages they have.

Incidentally this post would have been better posted in the Swingers Support and Advice forum than this one as it is more about issues with the site itself, that way you might have had more responses as to why people leave unread messages in their inbox, as I don't know everything

Perhaps they just didn't feel it was going anywhere

If it's an ongoing conversation, they may have read your last message, without you knowing. After I've sent a mail, I often open up my 'sent' items, because any reply appears at the top of the thread in my sent items, and I can read it without them knowing.

Yes, I know it's evil but hey ho! It's a great site, and I use all of the site's facilities!

As far as I'm concerned the 'sent mail' function needs to be removed as far too many people obsess over it instead of just moving on.

Like the OP, "they've been online but haven't read it. Why not? What's wrong with me? What have I done wrong?"

Or

"They've read it and not replied. Why not?" Etc....and on it goes.

I do wish they would do away with the sent folder too.

Also as a site supporter, I can read the new message, from an older message or a sent message, so don't actually need to open it to read it. The message threading is much easier to use

But just because I come online, doesn't mean I look in my inbox

that is exactly what i do....

some people are so paranoid now, I wish it is a function they would get rid off... save one less set of moans... unread/read/deleted...

Haha, excellent answer to the question.

Here and there

They could keep the sent folder so you know what you've sent and to who but get rid of the read/unread/deleted as it does seem to be a cause of frustration to many people.

then you will just get moans, on how you cant tell if they read it

swings and roundabouts..

if you dont get a reply, send another message another time.. if you get blocked or told no thanks, you then have your answer.

Nottingham/and everywhere my location says i am ;)

Look at it this way, just because your having a good conversation with someone, doesn't mean there not having another with someone else..

Most of my friends on here will say if I'm online and haven't replied within an hour it's safe to say its just got lost in the stacks ( lady's/couples ) receive..

Don't over think. Either move on or send another starting a new thread, things can get boring quickly.. An you need to keep things fresh

We will leave some messages if we are busy. Often its easier than opening and forgetting to reply later.
