I recently offered to pay for a place… but turns out it was just some fantasy/play thing for the other person so not going to happen.

But an actual meet I do have we are meeting but getting separate rooms and paying for our own.

There’s different things that come into play like is one person driving a lot further or one person gets hotel but the other pays for aby food or drinks?

I always split the bill or if it’s a regular then we take turns.

I do have someone regular i travel to see and he will pay for the hotel as I have travel costs to get to him.

If it’s someone new I like to book the hotel so it’s my room. Also if I’ve chosen a hotel over them accommodating as I prefer this then I will pay.

I’d say split it. In my head expecting them to cover it makes me feel like I’m treating them as though we are doing them a huge favour by deigning to even meet them and they owe us something. But the reality is we’d all be there to meet each other no one is doing anyone “a favour”

I couldn't agree more. I'd want to split the cost unless he was already staying there anyway. I like to meet on equal terms

Definitely my take on this if the hotel was only being used for the meet. I have had meets where I’ve already been staying so in that instance I paid for the room.

We have met in hotels that the guys have been staying in anyway and didn't actually think about offering but if it was the other way around we wouldn't think about expecting the others to share cost.

Try to set up meets with folk that can accommodate but would share costs if a hotel was decided on.
