Random but wanted to open up a conversation to discuss whether you think the cost of living is impacting swinging or how it’s affecting your general life? I’m finding more and more men in their late 20’s - 40’s even can’t accommodate as they live with parents or siblings etc (I’m totally not judging just seems a lot more common these days than it used to be) and also people are quite stingy about the idea of booking or splitting hotel costs when it’s only about 40 each or something? I dunno it seems people are a bit more reluctant at the moment to meet for a few drinks even or host.

I’ll be honest the cost of living is impacting my life in the sense I’m working more hours and feel like I’m just getting by or dipping into my credit card most months x

My case goes beyond cost of living crisis 😐 was fleeced out of over £50k years ago by a woman I knew who also took me for granted hence I still live with 1 of my parents 😞

Accommodation is only possible when he & his wife are on a break in their Welsh Coast caravan but understandable everyone feels such instances are shady 🙄 plus no one takes advantage of such a offer when I declare in advance 😔

But otherwise happy to travel & meet within reasonable time and distance, longest I've travelled for any meet is 1 hour (club meet mostly or in 1 instance, to the couple in question) 👍

Accommodation is a massive one for me, I share my house with a mate, which means that accommodating is pretty difficult unless he's out on holiday etc.

It is true, effecting everything, so if now you want to go out you gonna think about it, hotel is expensive or club or even a pub, it is effecting negatively

I (Mr) was going to post something similar. Struggling to pay for clubs or even have a social. Went to one place and a medium glass of wine for the Mrs was £9.25 a go, next time was £7.50. so actually cancelled a couple of socials as we just can't afford to go out at the minute. 🤷

Times are hard & I hate to say but I think it will get worse before getting better..

If we are out for a drink then it’s normally £15 for two drinks.. Gone of the days where you got change out of a tenner..

Friends that I know within the Financial industry reckon that we will have a Recession..

As if life isn’t hard enough now..

I am currently slep in a van after a swing party in Dublin as rooms are 300 plus a night for a few hours. Drinks (captain and ) 12 to 15 euro a go. Taxi was 30 euro up the road 20mins. I'm 34, live at home (cabin out back). And it seems I'll never have the prospect of owning a home. Barely keep the car on road. Hate my country, don't see a future here at all. In terms of swing, yeah, as a single it can cost alot more to do and attend things, so I have to weigh up costs alot. Fuel, accommodation and event costs. I try not let it deter me but have to be realistic with finance too. Did make the early mistake of booking a room once to watch a couple, who backed out and hour before the meet. But, had an event that night so not a total waste. Travel for a tea meet doesn't bother me but is something I have to think about for costs and such. As a single male I'll try make an effort, but not always viable. I work, but not made of money either

I dont accommodate but thats nothing to do with the cost of living crisis.

You'd have to be a lunatic to invite a strange or someone you've met once to your house.

The cost of living crisis is very real for me, it's affecting many aspects of my life and not just swinging.

But I still have a positive outlook on life because being any other way isn't helpful.

Buddy, I know that this is easy to say and hard to do, but take a look at Northern Ireland. That's where I am. House prices are much lower and you're only a drive away.

I may for the future. If I got work abroad in what I studied I'd leave. But just going through the motions ATM. Trying to figure out what my plans are. Like that don't see things going anywhere here. But, on a plus, it hasn't stopped me getting to swing events hahaha
