I certainly think men should attend better to their overall grooming,, and moisturising seems to be alien to many of them!!! Not sure about makeup,, certainly nothing around the eyes,, but a little bronzer or blusher on the cheeks would not go amiss?

Young lad in my office wears make up to work. Doesn't bother me but some of my older colleagues really don't like it and think it shouldn't be allowed

In the 1970's lots of us wore make up on evenings out a la bowie n Bolan. I was on the stage in a band n we were 'caked' in glittery eyeshadow glittery cheekbones n lippy cos that was height of fashion. I don't wear make up now but in winter have been known to brush on a bit of bronzer discreetly

Oh the good old days

I religiously moisturise body n face still cos I see nothing to be proud about having crusty knees n elbows - chaps wouldn't like it on a woman so why do women have to put up with it on a man? Altho no doubt some women do prefer the totally natural 'leave it at soap n water look '

OH lol n I was blonde till I recently had me long locks chopped off altho I still have a rat's tail n tho rest of what hair I've got is grey the rat's tail is still peroxide blonde (but then i've always liked looking freaky lol! )

I think if you have the right over all look men can get away with make up, most of the pubs I go in with my mates the guys wear make up and some of them look good, however if you don't have the look to carry it off I don't think it suits men

Correct - the question is SHOULD IT BE MORE ACCEPTED for men to use make up. Historically men have used make up particular eras being the regency georgians n more recently the early 1970s n latterly goth males. I can't see any justifiable reason men can't use make up surely it's just their personal choice n preference???

yes course they have and i am the last person who would say someone's personal preference is wrong, within what society deems acceptable obviously..

my does not compute was perhaps badly worded, dont personally get this fairly recent ish increase in male cosmetics and all the bumph that goes with it..

I know a number of men that wear cosmetics (which was word used in OP's question. This ranges from moisturizer ti tinted moisturiser through to bronzer. Eyeliner mascara but NOT bright blue eye shadow!

Personally I'll wear plain moisturiser clear lip salve n slightest imperceptible brush of discreet mascara (girlfriends give me their nearly empty tubes of it)

I see nothing objectionable about making an effort n I would defy anyone to notice I had ANYTHING on

Unless you want to be compared to Juilan Clary, Marilyn Manson or Boy George. I think men shouldn't wear make up. Just doesn't look right. Saying that I ain't really a fan of a woman wearing it either, but I understand why they do as some do it for confidence, etc. I believe in natural beauty.

As a guy in my day to day life I don't use makeup, but I do use a bit of tanning moisturiser. Is that classed as makeup?

I think it looks good, a damn sight better than pasty white anyway!

A man's face is the body area that I need to connect with before I can move on to the next "stage" of a swinging meet.

It is nice if that face is not lined and weather beaten, looking 10 years older than the person's age.

Guys, do what you want, but remember that a well maintained body and face is more attractive that a worn looking one. If make-up works for you then great.

May I commend some very reasoned and open minded responses x

In this context I was referring to the use of cosmetics to enhance the masculine look , moisturiser or a tan product , do not femininise but freshen a face

Men have nice eyes and cheek bones too and capful punctuation of such features can be subtle honest and complimentary

Society is happy for men to wear perfume , and spend more time preening their hair than some ladies but will often wrongly judge skin care and feature punctuation as feminine

Back in the day x I used to use a silver eye liner , the aim to open one of my better features , to draw subtle attention to define yet to be almost non detectable

It's called concealer, if applied correctly and in the right shade for your skin tone it gives you a less tired and more refreshed look as it minimizes the bags under your eyes.

I wouldn't say use it all the time but occasionally even good looking blokes need a little help.

I work with a few blokes who wear make up, one is a TV who comes into work male mode with foundation, false eye lashes not quite what the topic is about. Another bloke who is openly gay admitted he will use anything to give him the edge in the looks dept.

a little mineral foundation to cover spots or pigmentation - very light and looks natural, but wearing makeup everyday plus shaving could cause spots to get worse.

ysl touche eclate under the eyes is good for getting rid of hangover dark circles!

also if someone is pale some fake tan is okay if applied carefully, better than aging in real sun and gives a healthy glow.

however if a man takes too long to get ready or becomes obsessed or addicted to makeup this can be offputting!
