Husband here. I think I have slightly more female friends than male. Throughout uni my best mate was a lesbian classmate who just vibes with me. People thought we were dating (including her family) but we were just mates.

Dunno if it's a bi thing but you are either my sexual flavour or not. Gender doesn't really factor into it.

Most of my friends are women but then I am trans woman so it’s not like I am really interested in them that way or they me . They are more amused by how much male attention I get .

My male friends are cool as well as they are all real life straight (not fab straight ) and just hobby friends etc. so they don’t see me in a sexual light remotely . Makes it much simpler as we can hang out : crash out with zero worries of a dick going my way

I think men can be just friends with women yes. The issue is if the woman has hubby / partner as it generally creates disharmony. I have lost some close friendships with women over their male partners getting green eyed or dubious

It has fuck all to do with self control and more to do with enjoying people's company regardless of gender without adding sex to the equation.

I rarely think about sex when I'm not having it so maybe those who claim that men and women can't be friends should ask themselves if the same is true for those who are bi?

Does that mean that bi men and women can't have same sex friends without thinking about them sexually?

Now that’s a good one the last part I have experienced that people saying they wouldn’t be comfortable with me going away with the boys as I’d likely be trying to seduce them all

Some people can and some people can't.

Some are stuck in the friend zone forever and want to be more than friends. Some people like the interactions with the opposite sex without it having to be sexual. We are diverse creatures. The social landscape changes over time.

Yes you can be just friends with people of the opposite sex. I have a few men who I am just friends with and they feel the same.

There are some though who are not actually friends but who want to have a relationship/sex with the other person. And that usually ruins what friendship was there eventually.
