An interesting fab topic (in my opinion).

When someone leaves their filters to 18 to 99, does that mean that would fuck a 99 year old? I doubt it. Wild assumptions here but I have two theories.

Firstly, although someone may prefer someone under 40, they don’t want to rule out the slightly older guy that has something so offer them - however, for most I would bet my wage on the fact that they wouldn’t meet a 99 year old. I doubt I am the oniy guy that gets a little frustrated with this filter issue.

Secondly, some leave their filters wide open because they have an ego boost from messages even though they (the guys messaging) have no hope of a reply.

Us guys are often called “time wasters”, I get that. So many guys “wink” or “friend request” without even chatting, too many write one line messages. Too many guys with blank profiles. This gives us all a bad name, I know.

That’s said, if “us” guys could filter females and couples out so that our messages land in the inbox that may get a reply - it would help all round I believe.

Or, the people are just lazy and know they have the pick if the bunch because us guys are 100 to 1?

I am know I am at risk of being ambushed here for this post but I do think it warrants some discussion. I am sure there are varying views from both males, females and couples. I am just intrigued to know your thoughts.

I think people have the 18-99 age range for one of two reasons. They are genuinely open to people of any age or they just forgot to change it.

I'm not sure many people leave their filters wide open to boost their ego although I'm sure some do but rather they are interested in a wide variety of people.

The 'bad' guys don't give you all a bad name, they just make the decent ones stand out.

How would the site filter profiles to get more likelihood of a reply? You can do this yourself to an extent by checking you match the profile you're messaging.

I don't think people are lazy

I agree, maybe if there was a filter for “ideal range” and “open to” range, this would help?

That’s a very good answer. I just wander if guys get lazy with messages because they only get a reply from 1% of their messages?

We leave the age range open beyond that of an age range we'd be intrested insexually (although connection and chemistry is far more important than age to us so our attraction is wide anyway). We do this because many of the people who organise lifestyle events and parties or contact us with useful information range from the very young to the very old. We don't want to block anyone getting in touch with stuff that is useful to us.

Fair point. It happens a lot. Let’s give guys some bonus points though. Outnumbered 100 to 1. Some do make an effort. Women probably some women make less effort, because they don’t need to.

This thread went from a discussion about age ranges to a them and us debate very quickly.

I don't send messages so filters are irrelevant.

I don't meet people young enough to be my kids so if I was meeting it would never be outside the strict age range that I've set.

I don't get frustrated over anything that someone else has on their profile because I genuinely don't care what anyone else has on their profile even if that means I'm outside their filters.

I don't comment on how other men may or may not approach women or couples because it has nothing to do with me regardless of how poor their approach might be.

I'm responsible for my own actions and don't blame anyone else for my failures.

If someone has an 18-99 age range I would assume immediately that we wouldn't be compatible so that in itself is a brilliant filter.

Mine is 18 to 99.

Decided ( when meeting) that putting a limit of say, 71, would indicate that I wouldn’t meet someone that was 72, so thought it best to make my own mind up, it’s more about the person than the age.
