Swingathon press

Great to see swingathon all over the press and social media doing exactly the opposite to what they say they are trying to do.

If anything they are putting the attitudes of people back at least 10 years.

Fair play to them for making a great event. Just don’t need to press there again spreading absolutely lies and not telling the truth at all about the scene.

Obviously an extra few quid off the press in it for them but no consideration for the people that want to remain anonymous.

Ok I was there. Trust me Swingathon was brilliant. Before you read others views that weren’t there and don’t know, go yourself and make your own mind up.

Don’t think the 40 people orgy was the best headline though. I understand that they are trying to break down barriers but that headline was not ideal.

As for the complaints about moaning seriously - it would have been impossible to hear above the singing along to bands.

In short yes the press picked up on one thing and it wasn’t a great headline. However it was an amazing festival, great music, brilliant socialising, lots of fun, plenty of showers and toilets. Much better than many vanilla festivals.

There was more than last year. Roughly 950 attendees plus staff traders artists. Licensing who I spoke to personally were really impressed. All in all very chilled but very sexy.

I’m not part of Swingathon, but I do think as part of an alternative lifestyle is about time we stopped this stupid bickering about them and start sticking together instead of slagging people off. Maybe if we were a bit more supportive of each other then we could all have a say in the press about things that really matter to us. Let’s face it we either need to tell the press or they make it up.

So come on let’s work together and enjoy this lifestyle as one group moving forward.

"Obviously an extra few quid off the press in it for them but no consideration for the people that want to remain anonymous. "

If I can just ask, in all the media you have seen, have you seen ANYBODY? The people who shown their faces was consented. I was a little apprehensive about the media etc, but I can honestly say we hardly saw them, the worse media attention was unsolicited by a certain newspaper flying a drone over the site, which I might add so far, I’ve seen no people on the drone footage.

what is in the press is mostly lies made uo by the press regurgitating 5 year old news,

anyt pictures in the 1 paper thatvwas actually given access are with permission, from those who were spoken to and interviewed,

majority of images and quotes your seeing in other news articles are taken from people's social media , mine included , the entire weekend was incredible and if you havnt been you dont really have a valid point to have a right to comment about it .

Most articles are copy and paste over the past 3 years, Butt Plug Bingo being my personal favourite. The event was fantastic, nobody was filmed without consent, only press invites were the Sun, and as for hearing loans in a village about 2 miles away!!!! Wish my hearing was that good

"Why on earth would you invite journalists.... this is why I would never consider going. "

To let them see for themselves what is going on? To foster an opportunity for informed and possibly even sympathetic voverage? If not, all they will do is wtite whatever they feel like.

Sooner or later there will be far more acceptance of this lifestyle, it is actually already happening. Hiding yourself away is only contributing to helping with the idea that we should be ashamed of ourselves. Nobody can attack us when we take away the only weapon they have, which is our own fear of ecposure. And the opinion of a bunch of Sun readers isn't worth thinking about.

We have spoke to a few friends that went this year and it sounds like they had a brilliant time. We will no doubt be booking and going ourselves next year.

Rossendale,

always worth checking if the stories was from the event or others like people who are hosting their own areas within event or just people attending with have own instagram accounts. the drone was from the day before opening as there was still areas being setup. most of the stories are taken from social media.

whenever swinging is in the papers ita always twisted.

I dont hide who i am or what I do but ive seen how it's always twisted.

Vanilla people just see us as deviants and people can lose their jobs if outted as a swinger.. ( which i think is very wrong) but it is what it is

We’ve been and the headlines about people being heard moaning are years old and regurgitated.

Besides, if they can hear moaning from 2 miles away, over the music and 900+ people chatting then they need to be working for the secret services.

The one press outlet aren’t there all weekend but do show some of what goes on, all the others are clickbait.

The people quoted are ones who consent, this year it looks as though they’ve looked for further stuff on social media, which once in the public domain is fair game. It’s treated like a club and phones and taking pics are banned, unless in certain areas and these have big signs. No one should be ‘outed’

No one should be shamed and outed.

If it’s come from in the community then those people should take a hard look at themselves, always knobheads out to spoil the fun.

That said, I’ve been a few times, spoke to loads of people and am still in group chats and see people at clubs from the festival. I don’t know of any that have been outed though, if you do I hope you’ve been supportive

I don’t understand why it draws such attention. I attended Torture Garden this weekend. A huge fetish event that was in the absolute centre of London. Hundreds of people in no clothing that wanted to beat the crap out of each other and have sex. Was that covered? Has it ever been covered? No.

What is it with the tabloid press and people enjoying sex?

Inviting the press in allows a certain level of control, if they were invited or not they would be reporting on it as it's clickbait for Facebook and tiktok and wherever a 7 word head line is the sum parts of getting people's attention. They had strict rules to adhere to and were only permitted to photograph people who wished to be photographed.

That’s a new one for us, we’re not heavy into the fetish but will have a look.

Hope it was a great event and you enjoyed?

Just hope they stick to inviting the press to their own event and not around other venues or places like they did in pdi last year.

I just think what the press are posting is not helping what they are trying to accomplish one bit.

Rossendale,

having worked within the fetish club scene. there been times that TG was in the media most of the time it was when they did events outside of London, but over last 20 years the shock of fetish clubs does not sell papers anymore, Most of the stories I seen have all been none stories, what you find is if you don't give a story, they will just go undercover or make the story up or go looking for locals who will give that Shock story, what happening now is many people who are open about there sex lives and often have internew blogs or very open with social media are the easy way for AI to make storys, as they can goto meta and buy the data and just report what they get openly online, it all click bate it not not only comes from the media you will find onlyfans modals will do same. and so will say things to big up things. Dont ever think the words will come from the event management as the customers are free to post their own things about an event and some want to get there own likes on there own posts. also you will find storys reused there was a number of posts few says before and most of them was from years before.

"Any one know anything about netflix filming in GC in September and October making ducumentary/series about swinging"

Wouldn't worry about that, I think its just more BS from a certain supporter of Swingathon trying to get attention. It's coincidence that specific dates and a specific hotel were mentioned, the hotel of which have said that Swingthon nor Netflix are welcome and no filming is taking place.

X

Agreed. The issue with inviting Journalists is that they control the agenda. You relinquish control over the story that they choose to put out to the public

Its the biggest festival of its kind in the UK and easy click bait. The media will run stories regardless. The one reporter who was invited the last two years I know of has written very positive pieces. Was incredibly respectful of peoples privacy and helps put the a proper perspective on it all rather than regurgitating the same bullshit that the others do year in year out.

Better that they come invited and chaperoned than sneaking in and taking sly photos or sending drones over like used to happen at Swingfields. We didn't encounter any press and all the articles I've seen only had content from willing participants.

I bet there's more photos on here without the subject's permission than any of the press reports from the festival

Rossendale,

Reporters are not always a big thing and not all will be looking for the story that us a bit over the top. Some reporters are pro scene and some are also lifestyle people. just like some C4 and Five shows some have been very pro kink and swinger scene. others are all BS but they will still find willing people to do it. often you will find most of the BS stories are from people who want to make a name for themselves and often turn out to be sex workers or wanting to be on TV. I have a agent who I will always talk too before talking that person has been in a number of shows and is also someone the BBC calls in for lifestlye and his other job.
