I'd disagree.

Most people (ok, women and couples) will view a profile before opening a message. If they're not interested at all in the sender then it'll likely go unread or get deleted.

Visuals matter. Attraction matters.

The best message in the world is pointless if they're not at all interested in the sender. 🤷‍♂️

Although a picture can be massively helpful as well as we look for certain body types.

Physical attraction is the only thing that will make me want to engage in conversation with someone, regardless of how good the message is. Personality is important but you can't shag that so I need both. Same goes the other way, if someone is super attractive but has nothing to say, that won't continue either.

There may be specific things that qualify as absolute no's - a certain attitude or personality dislikes etc.

But the very vast majority of people are not mutually compatible with most other people. Type or not, there's no total mutual match.

Get to know many people, in clubs and socials, so that others understand how you are, more fully than a tight profile can do

Does your bio say what type you are ?

If your asking about woman you might find it’s more what your profile says rather than how it looks.

If they think both look and sound like you can deliver what they need they will get in touch.

Is it any surprise though?

Effectively people are looking to interact with complete strangers on the Internet. The first thing most will do is prioritise those that they find interesting and attractive. That doesn't guarantee compatibility, but if they have an idea in their head of what they generally find floats their boat then they'll either actively seek those people out, or will only respond to those that fit their preferences. Otherwise they're wasting time second guessing and hoping that something sparks interest later down the line.

Other factors will of course be important. Age, height, ability to accomodate, interests, marital status, location and availability. There's many things that can put people off that aren't physical characteristics.

It's not all about looks, but to most, if there's no attraction at all there'll be zero interest.

Face to face is often different from online interaction. Personality and communication skills can carry a lot of weight and boost your chances, but when it's just words and pictures on a screen it's significant harder to get that across.
