Why Do So Many People Avoid STI Testing?

Let’s be honest – a lot of us on here are sexually active with multiple partners, and many prefer unprotected sex. But if that’s the case, why do so many still skip regular STI tests?

It’s not about judging anyone – it’s about being real and responsible.

If you’re meeting new partners and enjoying this lifestyle, wouldn’t it make sense to get tested regularly? It protects you, your partners, and keeps the community safer for everyone.

Some questions to think about:

• Is it fear of the results?

• Embarrassment?

• Not knowing where or how to get tested?

• Or just not thinking it’s that important?

STI testing is free, confidential, and easy to access – so what’s stopping you?

Let’s talk openly. If you have tips, experiences, or just want to share your thoughts, drop a comment below.

Stay safe and respect each other.

For me I don't have sex enough with enough people to warrant it

And if I do get the chance for a meet. Allways safe

Absolutely, if you're having sex with multiple partners, even if you use protection, it's good to get checked.

I know people who are HIV positive. While being HIV positive isn't the death sentence it was, it isn't a picnic either.

There has been a serious rise in antibiotic resistant gonorrhea and untreatable syphilis.

I used to be nervous but a friend showed me a link to an online service.

You get a box with a kit to collect blood from your finger and a urine sample. You sent it back in the prepaid box and get your results via e-mail.

It's peace of mind for you and people you're having fun with.

Let's all be a bit safer.

Carlisle usually

Fuck knows. I'm just waiting for my local clinic to release new appointments so I can get in for my regular check up.

I was surprised over in the virus forum to see people kicking off about a&e testing bloods for HIV and hepatitis in areas with high incidences of them, as if somehow it was a gross violation of their privacy to be informed of communicable diseases they may have been spreading unknowingly.

Even if a symptom (that turned out to be cyst rather than STI related) ruined my birthday last year as my circle went into celibacy waiting for test appointments and results to come back, I'd rather know if I'm putting myself or anyone else at risk 💜

Because the ‘single’ men are nearly all cheating and can’t get test kits delivered at home?

Can't speak for others.

I'm polyamorous.

My partners know I'm on here and go to clubs. And my nesting partner actually used to take a crowd down from La Chambre to get tested to help break the taboo.

It's a plain brown cardboard box.

Plus people could just say that it's a regular health check with the GP.

Most Surgeries will offer a yearly health MOT as prevention is better than cure with most health issues.

Should really encourage everyone to do regular cancer checks.

If you're playing with someone and see a dodgy mole, feel a breast lump (men and women should do breast checks blokes get breast cancer to), or something odd on someone's balls.

Let them know because that is life saving stuff

Some people are just dickheads. There's no justification when it's so easy to get yourself checked out. No one should be fucking anyone without knowing they're clear

land of make believe

I do after every encounter although I will need to do a test again if I ever find someone to meet as too much time has lapse.

I always need to see the test results of a potential partner too or it is safe sex.

It is uber easy to order online & do at home.

For me the information on where to go wasn't readily available.

I asked at my drs and got a rude receptionist who said it isn't a GP problem.

When I eventually found where to go I went. The home kids werent good for me as I cant draw my own blood

My reasons are:

Request limit reached today: try again tomorrow

I don't always stay up til midnight

Not all areas offer this service.

Blood does not ever want to come out of my fingers. even the vampires struggle in the hospital

Not really a fan of my own blood either, so I just nip to my doctors surgery and the nurse does it!

You don't need to draw your own blood for the home kits.

The only test that is blood is with a prick test & is HIV.

The others are urine and swabs.

My current fwb insisted on it when she was on here and we continued to use protection for a while afterwards until we got the all clear and had built up enough trust in one another. For me, it was the least I could do even though I hadn't been sexually active for about a year but was nice for me too as she had enjoyed herself during that period!
