Organised Socials

I know socials are a thing in the lifestyle, although I’ve never really understood it unless there is some sort of after party at a nearby Travelodge. Those type of socials have always been free though and just organised at a pub. (Except the London one at Ignite - that makes much more sense).

Lately I’ve seen paid for socials advertised. These are around £20 a head for a social evening in a club, where the drinks prices are extortionate and there is zero opportunity to play.

Do people go to these things? Why?

I’m intrigued.

If you were being uncharitable I guess you could view it as an attempt to exploit the male population of sites like this which exist in excess. Not in the spirit of the game for me….

Yes, organised socials are good for meeting like minded people. I've paid for organised socials when there's been a theme or charity donation. Normally tickets are bought to cover the cost of either hiring a room, food or some kind of entertainment. Our local socials we don't pay for unless it's themed, I guess it could also make sure the genuine people come.

I hadn’t thought of it that way. Although the ones I’ve seen charge everyone not just guys.

I can see covering the cost of hiring a venue, but if it’s open to anyone who pays then surely the idiots/disrespectful people can come too. 🤷‍♀️

I love a social, they are great at meeting people at face value, holding a conversation with a vag or cock just isn't my thing.

It's my preferred way to meet people it's so much easier to get to know someone in real life and it's easy to make arrangements for another time if there isn't a club etc planned afterwards.

We’ve been to organised socials before in an lgbtq friendly night club. The club was opened early just for the social as a private function.

Our ticket price covered the cost of venue hire and if we chose to stay on when the club opened later in the evening we could stay without paying the club entrance fee.

It worked really well

That's at the discretion of the event organiser. I guess most people that pay are genuinely wanting a good time, unfortunately you'll always get idiots/ disrespectful people, however if you report them clubs/social event organisers generally ask them to leave. I've had some great socials and recommend them.

Thanks for your insight. Would you be ok with paying to go to a non play event though?

As mentioned above, it’s just another form of exploiting the overwhelming majority members on the site.

We don’t attend paid events.

Thanks for your reply, I asked the question here as there was a paid social last weekend near me and I couldn’t understand for the life of me why people would go. 🤷‍♀️

Because sometimes it is nice to make connections and have conversations.

Hell we don't even go to regular club nighta expecting to play either.
