Motherwell

(makes comment about a belief) finishes with "And I will die on that hill"

In other words.

I will die defeated, which to me means that belief was incorrect.

It should be.

"I will stand tall on that hill waving the flag of victory surrounded by the corpses of my dead foes, The unbelievers"

Don't cha think?

Not really.

It just means they will go to their death defending that particular belief.

Their ultimate end.

It doesn't involve being victorious.

That would require them using that thought or belief as a stick to beat others with whereas they aren't trying to convince anyone else and are just emphasising how strongly they believe in it.

Maybe I feel it's a weird saying due to the negativity of the dying part.

I wouldn't die for a belief if it was proven incorrect.

I have lots of opinions that others might not agree with but I don't go to war and try to force them to see it my way.

Regardless of whether they are factually right or wrong, if I feel strongly enough about something then nothing will sway me from those beliefs.

Therefore I'm not trying to convince anyone else that I'm right and they are wrong but I won't deviate from my path.

It's not a phrase I would ever use but that's how I see it.
