Booking hotel for a meet

Anyone whose arranged a hotel meet and any advice?

I've been chatting to a couple whose a good distance from me so thought about a hotel meet.

Are there any downsides to this? Bearing in mind I'd be accountable for any potential trouble

Intrigued to know what you mean by trouble OP ?

We've had hotel meets and they've all gone swimmingly - no dramas or troubles 😊

Really hope it works for you

Great way to meet people

You can meet down in the bar, have a little social first and see if you want to take things further ☺️

Milton Keynes and Central Pattaya

Not sure why you would envisage any trouble? When I was part of a couple, most of our meets were hotel meets. Never had any issues, apart from meeting with single guys who sometimes didn't turn up.

If you are booking the hotel to meet a couple, you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever, and as previously mentioned, meet and have a drink in the bar beforehand, everyone is then more relaxed when you go to the room.

Always have a social meet first op would be my advice.

Make sure they turn up and are who they say they are, or it could be a long costly trip for you.

If during the day I'd use Day Use Hotels. Pay on arrival and cancellation ok right up until that point.

Most hotel staff have seen pretty much anything (not necessarily literally!) and dont bat an eye lid in from of customers. As pp a social meet somewhere else first if nervous. If all happy head back to the room

If it’s some distance away book a hotel near things (bars, museums whatever) so you can make the most of it if the worst happens and they no show. Meet in the bar or a nearby bar to reassure each other all is ok. Reception don’t care long as you don’t wreck the place.

Agree with previous posters.

Never pay before you've met them.

A few things to consider:

1. Do you know them enough to trust they’ll turn up?

2. Have you met them sonically first, to ensure a hotel is worth it?

3. Make sure you have a plan B to avoid disappointment (when I say plan b I mean tourist things to entertain yourself)

4. Make sure you book a hotel where there are no key cards needed for the elevators or corridors, otherwise it can get difficult

5. Don’t book anywhere too cheap, it’ll ruin the experience.

6. Don’t book anywhere too expensive where you’ll be liable for fees in case they charge anything to your room.

Erm… that’s it really

Pay the extra and book on a cancellable rate, unless you'd happily enjoy the room alone too. That way providing they have the decency to give you a heads ups prior to the day you won't lose money.

We are going to London in July hopefully for a meet but if they don't show atleast we still got plenty to do and enjoy each other's company so it's a win win for us either way

South Leicestershire (willing to travel)

I regularly stay in hotels and post in the meets section. As yet, no meeting but I remain hopeful

My reply to this is set up fake business and then set up accounts with Travelodge or Premier Inn and you can cancel rooms last minute with no outlay.
