"Thinking of starting a little business with a barge travelling around UK and having adult parties and to hire out studio space for filming and editing would this be a good idea I've looked at cost and I hope that it's a good idea let me know what you think xx janie " if you thinking about hiring for a full year and subletting id think twice before you do. that includes subletting for filming or as a studio for others. if you own it then its your business, make sure theres clean up to be done after hiring for shoots or filming. as goes for adult parties they do happen on a hired canal barge but id advise on hidding the hire companys name so there not associated with the scene. | |||

Firstly, I think this a great idea! However, I work in the marine sector and live aboard a boat of my own. If you allow members of the public aboard for payment of any sort, you will need to have the vessel “coded” for commercial use, even on inland waterways. This will be slightly different for different local authority areas. It would require a full structural survey of the vessel and inspection by the local authority. Finally, if it moves while people are on board, the skipper will need to have a recognised qualification with a “commercial endorsement” up to 12 passengers. Above that, you would need a boat master’s (also known as a boatmans) licence. I know that sounds like a lot, but I do think it’s a worthwhile idea, and I genuinely wish you the very best with your venture if you go ahead with it. | |||
