Message then block

Why is it that so many people will chat for quite a while and then block someone for what seems like no reason?

This is similar to when someone agrees to meet but then doesn't turn up.

Why be on fab and chat to people if you block or just don't turn up.

Ending a conversation is nothing like not turning up.

"Ending a conversation is nothing like not turning up.

It kind of is in the sense of if the chat is flowing and just talking about random stuff. Nothing heavy..

It's just like the no reason thing I'm talking about

Depends on the "conversation"

I may reply but don't want to actually hold an ongoing chat for many reasons

Blocking means I can forget and deal with the next message

That in no way links to meeting people

If I have arranged something then it's because I want to meet.

It really isn’t. One (not turning up) is a timewaster. The other (ending the convo) is not a timewaster.

Maybe you said something which put them off. Maybe your idea of nothing heavy was actually heavy for them. Maybe they just decided the interest wasn’t there. Maybe life got in the way. I could go on.

There are many people on here that will tell you that something had been arranged and the person or persons haven't turned up..

That is very true but I think the point trying to be made is ending a conversation is not the same as not turning up for a meet - 2 completely different things

I agree that they are different but just meant that it's the same in the way of no explanation, it's just like a cut off without the reason. If you see where I'm coming from?

One day you'll tell somebody know and you'll get a torrent of abuse from them. We've had it, and I know others have too.

Therefore it's easier to just block.

Ahh yes I see where you're coming from.

Being blocked is quite a simple and effective way of explaining that they no longer wish to talk to you though

I can see your thought process

But you have to have thicker skin in fab

No one owes anyone anything and that includes an explanation

(It happens to me , I've just learned to let it go over my head)

Tried the replying to everyone as well

Over the years the novelty wears off when you get shit back/begging messages etc etc

Not blocked, but no reply after much chatting and arranging to meet, then what is obviously an identical profile pops up 30 miles away, wtf!

"One day you'll tell somebody know and you'll get a torrent of abuse from them. We've had it, and I know others have too.

It is easier to block, but in many peoples opinion that would be just rude, especially if they have been polite and inoffensive. Block if they become abusive.

I have never been upset by people saying no in here. But I have by people ghosting, or blocking me.

Bad manners breeds more bad manners and bad feelings.

Some people in here are of the opinion that no one is owed an explanation, but if they have treated you with respect then they are at least entitled to a respectful, “thanks but no thanks.”

Someone else mentioned about needing a thick skin. I think the people who hit the block button are demonstrating that they don’t have a thick skin either.

As with the last time I commented on a similar topic, I fully expect to receive a torrent of abuse for being an entitled loser and making the comments above. If you choose to abuse me, I dare you not to block me.

That's why I try to send 'even' friends requests instead.

They changed their minds and decided it wasn't going anywhere or you didn't want the same things.

Ideally people would tell you why, there's always a reason. However there's many abusive people on here, who wouldn't take kindly to being told why.

Hence why some will find it easier to just block someone.

We rarely block, but in our experience a minority will clearly think there is a possibility of a meet even if we have politely said no, or they have no ability to read between the lines. So we end up blocking especially if someone sends 2/3 messages without reply from us.
