Having had a longterm relationship with an Eastern European woman (Lithuanian-Russian), I guarantee that they really are not all the same - and some of them are so culturally different that 'loving' them can be hard bloody work!

Totally agree with this.

My ex got very angry with me and I had no idea why - apparently, Women's day is a big thing in Russian culture, and it's expected for men to buy flowers on that day.

I honestly had no idea, and have no idea how I was supposed to know.

And that was just one of the many things I got wrong.
