now bare in mind your a stranger to the person youve just asked are you free now you've not seen that persons face let alone know if that person is sexually attracted to you or any connection so honestly and please be honest how do you think ''are you free now'' is going to work for you ??

I assume it's due to the popularity of those other hookup apps, where quick meets is all the range with minimal effort required to get your leg over, and people naively believing this website is no different.

On the one hand, I agree such messages are moronic and surely anyone with any more brains than a glass of water could see they are likely going to have little to no prospect of success unless they happen to be a 10/10 looking guy. Perhaps they think they are that guy, no idea.

On the other, this is often taken to extremes with people, particularly single ladies and occasionally couples demanding bespoke, verbose narratives in the first message which is just unrealistic for the average person looking to message and signal interest. It's also frankly a bit of an attempt at a low-key power move which is inherently unattractive.

So somewhere in the middle we think is best, a short missive indicating interest and inviting further dialogue should be all that is needed at that stage. If they aren't interested they can either say so, leave on read, or delete, all of which amount to the same thing, or respond and hopefully make a good match.

Go on bumble where the woman message first and 99.9% of them just send "hi" maybe a "how's your day been" if they are feeling particularly creative. I get that saying 'are you free?" on here is quite rude but being rude and lazy isn't just a male trait.

On here some couples have an essay detailing all the reasons you'll be ignored to the point of rendering any message not worthy haha. Usually followed by the Sydney university spiel like it means something legally binding. Not that I'm bitter about getting turned down haha. Most people seem quite nice on here for the most part, just a few entitled people who forget they are overweight, middle aged and from Derby and think they are Brad Pitt or Kate moss.

It’s difficult to open a conversation with someone who likely has hundred of messages as a single man.

it's frustrating sometimes to try and think of a good message that doesn't sound copy and pasted(that a thing?) Tey not to go too short but also not to long.

Never done it, but based on the millions of threads on single guys who have poor manners and or seeking advice on etiquette. I am amazed that anybody would think this is a viable respectful approach. All said it appears for many that fab has become a place it wasn't meant to be and too many people expect sex for a few words and poorly photographed flacid penis.
