What is the consensus with people regarding contacting folk you know?

As in people you know from elsewhere? Always seems like a no to me. I’ve recognised people in the past and not contacted them, kept it to myself etc. wouldn’t want to spoil their fun.

However I have realised after chatting to folk a couple of times that I did actually know them. We both figured it out…

It could get a bit awkward if they're not interested in meeting though.
