"Don't motorists in London have enough to contend with with taxi divers, buses and cyclists having no regard for any rule in the highway code without joggers coming out at lunchtime and running in the road, or even worse, jumping off and on the pavement onto the road without a glance behind them. Aren't there any parks in London or have they just got a death wish. and I suppose all drivers have regards for the highway code do they? " Great !. Does that mean I can start driving on the pavement !

"Wait till the law comes in that the cycling fraternity(can't remember real name of cyclist organisation) are trying to push though that any collision between a car and cyclist is the drivers fault without question or investigation. How the he'll is that going to work. Even if it's the cyclists fault in a collision the driver gets the blame. Unbelievable " 90% of cyclists in London are colour blind. They don't know what a red light is or means !

The word unbelievable is the most accurate word in that post. There are proposals buy they relate to all vulnerable road users and certainly are nothing like that post suggests.

It's not unbilievable as you suggest. It might never be passed and the law they are trying to push through is as I quoted that all collisions between a car and a cyclist the driver is at fault no matter what happened.

"I once contacted TFL regarding cycling. I regularly cycle across London and I also ride a motorbike and occasionally drive. My main gripe with cyclists is that they do not shoulder check/turn their head to see what is behind them. I wrote to TFL explaining that on a motorcycle, changing direction without looking over your shoulder was unthinkable, and explained how this was even more imperative on a bicycle as they had no mirrors, were slower and that before sailing out into the middle of the road, a quick glance could save your life - hence why us bikers call them lifesavers. The response I got dismayed and astounded me. The chap from TFL pretty much washed his hands of involvement. He said that cycling groups were against blind spot checks as they believed this absolved the drivers of responsibility - presumably for responsibility caused by cyclists failing to observe or signal! I was absolutely incensed. Our roads should be used sensibly and co-operatively. If I fail to check on my bike and get run down because I swung out wildly into the path of a cement truck, that is no one's fault but my own. I am against legislating cycling and, yes, I take risks, but at the same time the commuter brigade who cycle along, earphoned stuffed into their auditory cavities, ipod blaring away in their ears and who haven't the vaguest idea about road safety are a menace. We should all look out for one another on the roads but this idea that somehow others have are expected to take responsibility for a cyclist's life is rubbish. Learn to turn your head, read the highway code and turn your fucking ipods off! As for joggers... stepping off a pavement without looking? You deserve what you get. " Could not have put it better. Thank you!!!
