We have been told by others on several occasions that honesty is the best policy.. yes we are not slim, hubby is not hung but we both have feelings..

Why when we let people know that my husband has a laryngectomy everyone suddenly stop messaging and are no longer interested?

He just shrugs it off but it’s starting to get to me aswell. We come as a couple but have permission to play solo but as soon as the laryngectomy is mentioned everything stops.

I don't know the reason maybe it makes people uncomfortable.

However if honesty is important to you maybe mention it first.

I'm sorry to hear it op

Maybe it's the fear of the unknown, ie people don't really understand.

As mrs nice says, maybe put it in your profile, if comfortable to do so.

My other half has an illness and due to people going quiet when they find out, he now states it on his bio.

It's best for people to know from the very beginning and not adding it to a conversation when things are going well.

I hope you find your people.

This interests me.

I've been on and off a few times had some meets

However many moons back I had to have a testicle removed I do mention before a meet it's about 50/50 where they stop and block.

So for me it's their loss if they pass you by it's not bloody contagious x

We did, and unfortunately no one reads profiles and still the same, we might put it back in again.

I think that people feel awkward. They don't know how to react, aren't sure if they need to be careful with certain activities etc.

We met a couple for a social once who didn't mention that one of them was partially hearing until we were all chatting. We felt awkward because they'd missed out on a lot of our conversation due to us not knowing and making appropriate adjustments.

. We don’t hide the fact and it’s mentioned asap when we receive a message.

Oh, I misunderstood and thought it was after a few messages.
